Huron, SD Monday-Thursday 6am-4:30pm

Join our team at Terex Utilities and embark on an exciting opportunity as we seek a skilled and dedicated Quality Technician to contribute to the Terex Utilities team.

As a Quality Technician at Terex Utilities, based in Huron, SD, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering quality products that meet customer expectations, which includes part inspections, internal auditing, cataloging material certifications and performing macro etchings.

What you'll do

  • Identify possible safety hazards and report near misses at the Huron facility to the Safety team via the Terex HSE system
  • Perform inspection sampling for incoming parts and raw material
  • Support production lines as needed and escalate issues appropriately
  • This includes actions such as investigating, troubleshooting, coaching, etc. and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis
  • Maintain control and accountability of all calibrated measurement devices; Support on-site calibration servicing; collect and send remaining devices to calibration service locations as necessary
  • In-Process returning non-conforming parts and transfer paperwork and adjust inventory as necessary
  • Quarantine and coordinate non-conforming parts from suppliers or Watertown manufacturing to their respective areas for re-work as defined in SOP 8.3-02
  • Inspect First Article parts and process associated documentation
  • Maintain regular communication with Watertown manufacturing for any part quality issues and perform investigation and recommend appropriate countermeasures
  • Perform all tasks required for Quality related projects and objectives outlined in TTMS or as defined by the Quality Supervisor
  • Perform full inspection and NDT testing on parts that require quality intervention to the standard identified in TUWI 1018 and AWS D1.1 2020
  • Program and run PC-DMIS software on a RA8v1 Romer Absolute Arm for detailed part inspection and analysis
  • Conduct Tier 1 meetings daily with shop floor team members to identify and address Quality related topics and escalate possible manufacturing issues or process improvements to Tier 2
  • Polish and etch material samples for macro and micro level defects and discontinuities
  • Digitize and file all incoming material certifications with FileDirector
  • Maintain designated Quality inspection and rejection areas for segregating quarantined parts and keep an accurate inventory of all quarantined parts both digitally and physically
  • Attain and maintain Certified Welding Inspector certification and proficiency in precision measurement techniques

What you'll bring

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years experience in welding, machining, Quality Control, or similar fields related to manufacturing

Physical Requirements of the Job

Physical requirements of the job are classified as medium to heavy. Physical demand requirements are in excess of light work. Medium to heavy work is defined as:

  • 10 to 40 pounds of force frequently, may include pushing, pulling and lifting
  • 40 to 100 pounds of force occasionally with assistance of machinery or others to move objects
  • Ability to stand on concrete for 10+ hours per shift

The salary range for this position is $22.50 to $27.50 per hour.
