Compensation Grade: P14Compensation Details: Minimum: $51,305.00 - Maximum: $51,305.00 AnnuallyDepartment (OPH) WADS - Wadsworth CenterJob Description: Responsibilities Health Research, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Research Scientist to work within the Wadsworth Center. https://www.wadsworth.org/. The Assistant Research Scientist will join a highly interactive team in the Newborn Screening Program at the Wadsworth Center, assisting in validating and setting up a Liquid Chromatography-tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) assay for the detection of Metachromatic Leukodystrophy, rolling out the assay in a newborn screening setting and performing day to day screening. The incumbent will test using an LC-MS/MS screening assay. The incumbent will be part of a team serving the primary mission of the New York State Newborn Screening Program, which is to identify newborns with health conditions so that they may receive timely evaluation and treatment. https://www.wadsworth.org/programs/newborn. This position will be part of a dynamic team serving the Wadsworth Center's mission in the New York State Department of Health's efforts to protect and promote the health of New York's citizens. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology, and one year of research experience; OR a Master's degree in a related field. The degree must be from an accredited institution. This position will require the incumbent will meet all Federal requirements for staff who perform clinical testing, including the educational requirements. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a clinical testing environment; experience performing Mass Spectrometry assay; experience testing samples in high-throughput format; coursework or experience in biochemistry. Conditions of Employment Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required. The offer of employment will be contingent upon the successful completion of a background check. The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.
