The Transplant Outreach Specialist serves as a liaison and resource to all potential referral sources to the Hume-Lee Transplant Center of the VCUHS with the intent of increasing patient referrals for solid organ transplant evaluation.
The Transplant Outreach Specialist implements marketing strategies that increase referral base and promote the Hume-Lee Transplant brand. This job interprets changes in the service area and generates ideas to carry out marketing initiatives that increase Hume-Lee market share. This job also performs market research, monitors customer service, assesses and evaluates the Transplant Center's activities that effect relationships with referring physicians. The Transplant Outreach Specialist is responsible for public relations with referring physicians, hospitals and dialysis unit staff and other "customers" of Hume-Lee Transplant Center of the VCUHS. This position tracks all activities of outreach and referral activity back to the Center. This position is also responsible for developing and fostering relationships with physicians and staff in network and new markets to increase referral growth, improve relations, remove service barriers and offer educational information for referral sources based on the needs and profile of a practice. The Transplant Outreach Specialist initiates relationships and conducts outreach activities and customer service/network development service recovery calls to physicians and their staff. The Coordinator has skill and demonstrates creativity in marketing and public relations. Partnership, collaboration, networking, and the ability to be a close liaison to healthcare providers as required. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Valid Virginia Driver's License and an acceptable driving record Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: Valid Virginia Driver's License and an acceptable driving record Experience REQUIRED: Minimum of three (3) years of account management, business development, marketing or relevant work experience Previous experience with computers and software applications to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and graphic representation of data. Experience PREFERRED: Previous work experience in organ/tissue transplant community Previous work experience specifically in healthcare marketing and market research Three (3) years previous experience in physician outreach, liaison work Previous experience collecting, organizing, and analyzing data Previous experience with professional website content design Education/training REQUIRED: Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Healthcare Administration, Business, or a Healthcare related field from an accredited program Education/training PREFERRED: Masters Degree in Marketing, Business, or a Healthcare related field from an accredited program Independent action(s) required: Develops, expands and fosters long-term positive physician relationships. Maximizes physician referral of patients to the Hume-Lee Transplant Center through enhanced customer service ethic. Serves as point of contact for community physicians and dialysis units. Acts consistently with VC UHS Health's values. Updates and maintains information in outreach departmental database. Investigates and problem solves. Reports issues weekly and results monthly. Participates in development/revision of departmental policies, procedures and community education materials. Maintains statistical data, call reports and conflict resolution documentation. This documentation is provided to the Department Director monthly for review. Assists with training of outreach support team including physician support representatives. Represents the Hume-Lee Transplant Center to Donate Life Virginia (and the national affiliate), attending meetings and events. Plans and organizes all logistics of Hume-Lee community events. Plans, schedules and coordinates speaker bureau, lunches, seminars and/or conferences. Develops and maintains the Hume-Lee Transplant community calendar. Leads in the design and implementation of content for the Hume-Lee Transplant website. Must have the ability to work well independently as well as under supervision. Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): N/A Additional position requirements: Travel throughout the Commonwealth with occasional overnights and attendance at weekend events as required.
