About the Job

Position Summary
Assist in the management and execution of overall operation and administration of the men's basketball program. Responsible for organizing team travel (commercial & charter flights/buses/hotels, practice facilities, reasonable entertainment, etc.), team meals, reconciling expenses, assisting with the budget, maintaining the head coach's calendar, accountable for all inventory for office supplies & general office equipment, selection and inventory of Nike apparel for the Team & Coaches/Staff, acting as liaison between Men's Basketball and the athletics Business Office, IT & Facilities. Represent the head coach and or staff at department & all coaches meetings (in their absence) and functions. Assist in advancing the department's vision, and strategic plan including our actions; Be accurate, Be Accountable, Be Empathetic, Be Inclusive and Be Innovative.

Essential Functions

30% of time

  • Keep accurate files to maintain and remain in compliance with University, Big Ten Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of program operating budget.
  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of team travel including charter/commercial flights, buses, meals, lodging and team itineraries.
  • Coordinate team travel arrangements and pre/post game meals.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of facilities for practices and team events.

30% of time

  • Act as liaison between men's basketball and facilities and athletic administration.
  • Assist in the organization of daily summer basketball scheduling.
  • Assist with organizing and supervising community outreach for the men's basketball program.
  • Assist with media contact requirements and promotional events.

20% of time

  • Responsible for ordering and inventory control of team equipment all Nike team/coach apparel working with the Chief of Staff & Director of Equipment.
  • Represent the Head Coach and/or staff at various functions or meetings.
  • Identify, hire, train and supervise student managers.
  • Assist all incoming student-athletes with issue/policy & procedures related to financial aid, housing, admissions, orientation, etc.
  • Coordinate complimentary ticket requests and distribution for games in conjunction with the coaching staff and event service.
  • Build quality relationships and work collaboratively and professionally with the Fast Break Club, Friends of the Barn, athletics, and University staff, students, business vendors and all donors and stakeholders.

20% of time

  • Liaison to the Compliance Office, and other university offices.
  • Act as one of the on-campus contacts during summer recruiting periods.
  • Know and understand NCAA rules related to the ongoing performance of duties within and NCAA Division I program and commitment to follow those rules.
  • Perform other duties requested by the Head Coach, Chief of Staff or Director of Athletics or his/her designee at the university.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree and either experience working for or participating on an NCAA Division I basketball program or for a professional team.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in an NCAA Division I program as a Director of Men's Basketball Operations.
  • Previous playing experience in the sport of basketball.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $95,000 - $112,500 annually; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment

Position Type: Faculty and P&A Staff
