We are seeking a highly experienced and versatile Solution Architect/Database Engineer with 15+ years of proven expertise in managing and optimizing complex environments. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Oracle, Databricks, and other database systems, coupled with strong programming and cloud platform skills. This role demands a strategic thinker who can architect robust, scalable, and secure data solutions, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with industry regulations, particularly within the healthcare domain.

Responsibilities:

Database Architecture & Design:

  • Design and implement scalable and high-performance database architectures, primarily focusing on Oracle and Databricks.
  • Develop and maintain data models, schemas, and database objects.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate database technologies to meet business requirements.
  • Act as a solution architect, providing expertise on database design and implementation.

Database Administration & Performance Tuning:

  • Perform advanced SQL performance tuning and optimization for efficient data retrieval and processing.
  • Manage database security, backups, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Implement and maintain database monitoring and alerting systems.
  • Ensure database availability and reliability.

Cloud Platform Integration:

  • Design and implement data solutions on Azure, leveraging Databricks, CosmosDB, Function Apps, and other relevant services.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of AWS and GCP cloud platforms.
  • Integrate on-premises databases with cloud-based data warehouses and data lakes.

Data Engineering & Development:

  • Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes using SQL and Python.
  • Utilize R and Cobol as needed for data processing and legacy system integration.
  • Implement data quality and data governance best practices.

Machine Learning & Data Visualization:

  • Apply machine learning techniques using Scikit-learn, PyTorch, and TensorFlow for data analysis and predictive modeling.
  • Create insightful data visualizations using Matplotlib, Seaborn, ggplot, and PowerBI.

DevOps & Agile Practices:

  • Implement and utilize DevOps practices for database deployment and management.
  • Work within an Agile environment, using tools like Jira, Jenkins, GitHub, and Bitbucket.
  • Automate database tasks.

Healthcare Compliance:

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of healthcare data regulations, including HIPAA, PHI, and PII.
  • Implement and maintain SOX controls related to database security and access.
  • Ensure all database related activity is compliant with all regulatory requirements.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in databases includes Oracle, MSSQL, Databricks architecture.
  • Expertise in Oracle and Databricks database systems.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python programming.
  • Experience with Azure cloud platform, specifically Databricks and Cosmos DB.
  • Working knowledge of AWS and GCP.
  • Knowledge of machine learning frameworks (Scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Matplotlib, PowerBI).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices (Jira, Jenkins, GitHub, Bitbucket).
  • Strong understanding of healthcare data regulations (HIPAA, PHI, PII) and SOX controls.
  • Proven experience in SQL performance tuning.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Solution Architect experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with healthcare data warehousing and analytics.
  • Experience with Data security best practices.
  • Master degree in computer science is preferred.

Salary and Other Compensation:

Applications will be accepted until 04/27/25.

The annual salary for this position is between $88,200- $161,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
