As a technical leader, this individual is responsible for the design, implementation and administration of datacenter computing, storage and data protection systems, whether they are hosted on-premises or in the cloud. In collaboration with the Sr. Manager - Technical Services, this position is responsible for developing the strategy and roadmap of Hosting Services by gaining expertise and input from appropriate resources, and for managing the day-to-day team's operations, which includes variety of duties pertaining to the administration of the physical and virtual computing environment, Sun Solaris Unix, Linux, Microsoft Backoffice, Storage Area Network (SAN), Backup Systems and Cloud Services.

What You Do.



  • Participates in the development of a long-term strategy for hardware, software, system, and human resources for IT, pertaining to the Hosting Services area.
  • Analyzes hosting services needs to determine the scope, cost effectiveness, and priorities of projects. Administer plans for supporting existing and implementing new services in line with business needs and IT strategy; develops the architecture, standards, life cycle management, management tools and performs cost analysis for hardware and software.
  • Oversees the administration of computing, storage and data protection systems which includes a variety of technologies, vendors, hypervisors, and operating systems, including but not limited to: VMWare, Dell, Microsoft, Cisco, AWS, Linux, Windows, Networker, Data Domain, Office 365, Azure, MS Active Directory, DNS, Mimecast, etc., and prioritize and coordinates activities to assure the optimal performance, capacity and security of application systems and services.
  • Manages datacenter access, environmental, power, racking and cabling requirement. Develops end enforces datacenter policy, standards, and best practices. Ensures computer room tidiness and safety.
  • Manages the enterprise alerting and monitoring software.
  • Leads the planning, documentation, execution and testing of Disaster Recovery plans for Hosting Services area.
  • Manages diverse projects and teams, including internal resources as well as vendors and consulting partners, measuring performance based on the specific Statements of Work and ensuring only appropriate charges are invoiced. Backs up subordinate staff in critical and time sensitive matters as required.
  • Makes certain all hardware and software is properly supported and is in compliance with vendor licensing agreements.
  • Ensures all changes are planned and completed with minimal impact to the users, following the IT Change Control process. Ensures all system resources are monitored, tracked, and documented.
  • Leads the research of emerging technologies and services in support of service enhancements, performance, and security. Stays future focused and provides strategic direction regarding computing and data storage design and best practices. Recommends, schedules, and leads enhancement, upgrades, and/or purchases of new systems and software.
  • Develops technical documentation, standards and procedures for the Hosting Services team and ensures currency. Drives process improvement, standardization and efficiency applying automation for repetitive, low value activities.
  • Develops and reports Hosting Services KPI to measure service performance and capacity.
  • Works with wide latitude for un-reviewed action or decision; accept strategic oversight and direction on major initiatives.
  • Accessible to receive off-hour calls by always carrying a functioning cell phone, except when on vacation, to facilitate prompt problem resolution.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 1-5 non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Supports employee's development plans to enhance their skills and abilities, facilitates people empowerment and fosters cross-functional team collaboration.

Your Education and Experience.



  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related field required as well as 6+ years relevant experience as a System Administrator or Data Center Manager.
  • Requires experience with Compute and Storage systems design and administration, Data Protection systems design and administration.
  • Requires experience with Server Virtualization experience & hypervisors including VMWare, Window OS administration, optimization, performance.
  • An ideal candidate will have some familiarity with system alerting and monitoring tools, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Web Hosting, Email, O365, VDI services, SAP S4/HANA Infrastructure design and deployment in HA and Disaster Recover configuration.
  • Experience in Cloud Services management is a plus: SAAP, PAAS, IAAS (AWS, MS Azure). Budget planning and management experience, including vendor management, is preferred.
