ROLE SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager Cost Accountant will play a critical role in the developing, enhancing and maintaining the company's inventory valuation controls with direct ownership on month end close for accurate and reliable financials in accordance GAAP and SOX requirements. Key focus on transactional integrity, accurate inventory valuation, and accounting controls. This is a flexible, hybrid role 3 days a week (headquarters located in Billerica, MA).
WHAT YOU'LL DO:



  • Accountable for month end inventory controls:

    • Cost valuations entries: PPV, manufacturing variances, and revaluations.
    • Reconciliations: Perpetuals, reserves, capitalizations, demo, and offsite locations
    • Quarterly entries: Labor and overhead, reserves, LCM, and other capitalizations


  • Operational collaboration: weekly reviewing on job orders, WIP, scrap, cost of poor quality, and inventory.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly schedules: Inventory turns, operating costs, flux, offsite reviews
  • Support department roadmap to establish efficient, accurate, and reliable results.
  • Continuous improvement project resource: close calendar, SOX controls, standard entries, establishing key reporting schedules, close efficiencies, new product initiatives, system implementations, and other as needed.
  • Review and recommend corrective actions with supply chain and operations to resolve transactional issues impacting inventory valuation or cost of goods sold.
  • Support item master data costing elements changes as needed.
  • Key stakeholder for annual controls: Physical inventory count and standard cost update.
  • Build trusted relationships with key business partners, including the Operations team and the FP&A teams.



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • 7+ years of experience in cost accounting
  • Experience with US GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting (SOX)
  • Advanced excel spreadsheet skills; Pivot tables, LOOKUPs, SUMif's
  • Strong business acumen within the balance sheet and income statement
  • Experience with standard costing and ability to articulate absorption accounting



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Experience in publicly traded, global companies, with a preference for life sciences / manufacturing industry experience.
  • Strong understanding of inventory accounting principles, including standard costing and inventory valuation under GAAP
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and data analytics tools to prepare accurate inventory value and control processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross functional teams and support decision-making.
  • Experience reporting and analyzing manufacturing data to drive accurate and reliable results.
