Role Profile

Lead Snowflake Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) role will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and scalability of our systems while driving continuous improvement through automation and data analysis. This includes monitoring systems, identifying and resolving issues, and implementing automation to improve efficiency. The SRE will work closely with development and platform teams to ensure that our systems are built to be reliable and scalable. The objective is to assist our customers by using technologies such as Snowflake, GitLab, Python, Docker, Terraform, AWS, and Azure.

Responsibilities
  • Site Reliability: Provide recommendations to different teams, encompassing issue resolution, CI/CD automation, and the development of tools to enhance the DevOps framework.
  • Observability:Responsible for all pertinent metrics within the platform to ensure a comprehensive understanding of system health.
  • Build: Collaborate with the Snowflake Platform team to develop new monitoring capabilities, including observability for Operations, Security, and Financial Operations.
  • Compliance:Ensure compliance with internal security policies and standards.
  • Incident Response:Assist in incident response efforts, including root cause analysis and post-mortem reviews to prevent future occurrences.
  • Scalability and Cloud Migration:Design and implement cloud-based scalable solutions to meet changing business needs, including migrating systems to cloud environments.
  • Adaptability to Change:Continuously adapt to changing technologies, business needs, and industry trends. Implement upgrades, patches, and migrations to keep systems up-to-date and secure.
  • CI/CD Processes:Provide ongoing support for CI/CD processes on GitLab and develop new pipelines to improve automation.
  • Change & Release:Support Change processes and functions, ensuring alignment to requirements for new services and deployments.
  • Documentation:Develop end-to-end documentation to ensure observability, automation, self-healing, and resiliency throughout the stack.
  • CoE: Deliver and chip in with the CoE:
    • Preferred integration patterns
    • Identify and promote best-practices and standards.
    • Advice, guide, and aid disparate teams seeking integration.
  • Level Objectives:Understand and document our Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Key Performance Indicators, and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
  • On-Call Support:Be willing to be on-call and collaborate with different teams for rotations to ensure continuous system reliability.
  • Foster a culture of customer lense and continuous improvement for the SRE function.
Candidate Profile / Key skills
  • Minimum 6 years of industry experience, preferably in financial services.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Snowflake Experience, preferably, in administration capacity.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in mentoring and guiding engineers.
  • Strong programming and scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell). Python preferred.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.). GitLab is our preferred CI tool.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Proficiency in version control systems (Git).
  • Experience in APM tooling - DataDog, Grafana
  • Experience with SQL or relational database management systems (RDBMS).
  • Superb communication and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrable skills in cost optimization techniques.
  • Proactive, resolved, and resilient, focus on positivity!
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
