The Clinical Pharmacy Management team is looking to grow the team and hire an Authorization Lead. This role will work remote from a home office and may be located anywhere in either the Pacific or Mountain timezones.

In this role the Authorization Lead provides operational support and leadership to the formulary exception team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals while fostering a collaborative and productive environment. The Lead drives team performance by leading team assignments, facilitating effective communication, mentoring teammates, and maintaining team accountability by championing a culture of excellence. The Clinical Pharmacy Management Team is an integral part of the Clinical Enterprise Department, whose charter is to "create the future of healthcare, by innovating clinical practice design, improving quality of care, service, and life."

High Level Roles and Responsibilities:

Own administrative support duties to maintain on-going communication, resolve technical concerns, and escalate all outstanding issues including drafting written responses, correspondence, emails, and spreadsheets as required.

  • Ensure that current and accurate communication with facility teammates occurs in a clear, timely and concise manner, monitor inbox for delayed response times to address with team
  • Responsible for conducting real-time coaching conversations with team as well as assuming first response to any team inquiries or escalations, including, but not limited to team chat questions, inbox inquiries, and partnering with stakeholder partners for proper escalation and resolution.
  • Facilitate effective operational workflow by performing complete, accurate and consistent reviews of all formulary exception medication or product requests; including review of appropriate labs and supporting documentation against pharmacy clinical criteria/guidelines

Responsible for weekly operational responsibilities as assigned by the direct supervisor, pertaining to the support and monitoring of the frontline team.

  • Contributes significant expertise to the CPM team
  • Daily completion of team assignments and real-time monitoring of queues to ensure turnaround time goals are met and that outstanding/pending tasks are escalated in due time
  • Lead weekly coordinator support calls and monitor team inquiries to ensure all follow-up actions are completed
  • Create and communicate coordinator rotation with careful consideration of any ad hoc or high priorities for the team, as well as PTO coverage.

Assist with special projects as assigned by Clinical Operations management or its partners

  • Leads improvement initiatives and uses analytical and critical thinking skills to implement innovative solutions to problems
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate documentation of review processes and guidelines
  • Ensure adequate onboarding and mentorship of new coordinator teammates
  • Additional responsibilities or experience beyond the CPM team within clinical enterprise

Uphold quality assurance processes to ensure team compliance with clinical guidelines and operational standards

  • Conduct regular quality audits/checks of team activities to identify and address quality gaps
  • Lead quality review sessions and trainings to reinforce best practices among team members

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of Pharmacy Benefit Management experience
  • Minimum of an Associate degree in Pharmacy, Business or related field. Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Current Registered Pharmacy Technician Certification
  • Advanced skills in MS Office products, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Demonstrated high level attention to detail and superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel 20% as needed

Salary/ Wage Range

$27.16-$39.90 / hour

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
