Brown and Caldwell, a leading environmental engineering firm, has an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our growing team based in NYC as the Sustainability Delivery Lead. In this critical role, you will be responsible for managing the sustainability deliverables for wastewater projects, providing solutions for complex issues and business development through capital planning, design and engineering, and construction phase efforts.

The ideal candidate should have strong verbal and written communication skills, be highly organized and capable of working in a diverse team environment and handling multiple tasks with competing priorities.

Hybrid work is allowed.

Duties may include the following:



  • Develop and manage scope, schedule and budget for sustainability deliverables.
  • Facilitate multiple, concurrent large and small sustainability deliverables on time, on budget and with expected level of quality.
  • Lead the development and preparation of sustainability focused technical documents for wastewater projects including energy profile reports, climate risk assessment and adaptation plans, sustainable material content and construction waste estimate reports, stormwater runoff reduction reports, and lifecycle carbon assessment reports.
  • Interact with clients, other project managers, discipline leaders and assigned staff to confirm work is progressing per schedule and budget and that the work is being developed to appropriate level of completeness and quality.
  • Obtain Envision Certification
  • Perform quality reviews for the sustainability deliverables.
  • Check performance or conformity with design plans and specifications through field inspection and reporting
  • Review contractor submittals for adherence to technical specifications.
  • Adhere to Brown and Caldwell's quality assurance/quality control process.
  • Supervise and mentor multiple individuals and teams.


Required Qualifications:



  • BS degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience with large municipal water/wastewater utility engineering.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience focused specifically on sustainability deliverables and/or related metrics.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook)
  • Previous proven and successful team management and delivery experience as either a lead in or an assistant role.
  • Candidate must have excellent verbal/written communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work well both independently and in team environments.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills with extreme attention to detail.
  • The ability to influence people to get things done.
  • Ability to lead in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • 10+ years of experience supporting engineering tasks in various related fields such as wastewater, water resources, potable water or construction management.
  • 3+ year of experience focused specifically on sustainability deliverables in New York City.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) in New York or ability to obtain NY PE through reciprocity within 6 months of hire.


Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location C: $116,000- $158,000
