Job Summary
The Benefits Specialist provides administrative and operational support for the enterprise-wide benefits programs.

Primary Objectives
  • Prepare and process accurate and timely benefit plan enrollments, eligibility-related notifications, and related payroll deductions and status changes.
  • Effectively communicate benefit plan features, enrollment and participation requirements, and considerations relating to eligibility and enrollment, including interaction with company and government sponsored programs.
  • Enter and review benefit data in multiple systems ensuring accuracy and compliance with plan eligibility and guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Enter, process, review, and complete employee benefit plan elections and status changes in HR and vendor systems. Ensure compliance with appropriate plan rules, restrictions, and timeframes.
  • Provide timely and accurate eligibility, enrollment, and benefit information and materials to participants.
  • Assist in the administration of benefit enrollment processes for new hires, open enrollment periods, and qualifying life events.
  • Distribute benefits-related materials, update plan documents, and ensure employees have access to current benefits information and resources.
  • Coordinate resolution of enrollment and eligibility issues with vendors, brokers, and employees.
  • Provide regular and ad hoc reports, census data, and supporting information for benefit audits and plan renewal and implementation.
  • Compile and maintain accurate and compliant program and participant documentation, including tracking and reporting on wellness and volunteer time off (VTO) activities.
  • Coordinate benefit transactions affecting employee wages and taxes with Payroll, ensuring timely, accurate communication and documentation relating to benefit-related deductions and plan remittances.
  • Support benefit and retirement plan compliance processes, audits, filings, notice and form distribution, and associated reporting and posting requirements.
  • Assist with promoting and coordinating wellness activities, communications, and programs aimed at enhancing employee wellbeing.
  • Provide administrative support for different team events, programs, and initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate degree or college-level coursework in a related field preferred
Licenses and Certifications
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Certified Benefits Professional (CBP), or equivalent preferred
Work Experience
  • 2+ years' related experience in employee benefit and retirement plan administration required
  • Experience with administration of benefits programs in multiple states and/or a multi-employer/union plan environment preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Understanding of features and mechanics of a broad variety of employee benefit programs.
  • Understanding of applicable requirements, regulations, and federal and state laws relating to employee benefit plans.
  • Excellent process management and administration skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to employees and business leaders throughout multiple business units.
  • Ability to properly handle confidential and sensitive information and materials with an understanding of HIPAA protocols.
  • Ability to identify and report discrepancies in large amounts of quantitative audit data.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and/or benefits management software.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products at the following levels: * Excel: Intermediate level of skill * Word, Outlook: Basic level of skill
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Familiarity with UKG Pro and Benefits Admin/PlanSource benefit administration tool preferred.

Zone 1: $35.00 - $40.00
