PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Project Director - Power is responsible for the overall direction, management, and execution of large and mega-scale power projects. This role ensures that projects are completed in alignment with contractual obligations, customer expectations, and Worley's strategic objectives. The Project Director defines project goals, develops strategies to achieve them, and oversees project personnel, fostering a high-performing team culture. With a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and sustainability, this role plays a pivotal part in delivering complex energy solutions that align with Worley's ambition of being a leader in sustainability solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Provide leadership and strategic oversight for the successful delivery of large and mega power projects, ensuring alignment with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive project execution plans, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations.
  • Oversee project teams, ensuring effective coordination between internal departments, subcontractors, and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards, championing a strong safety culture across all project phases.
  • Manage financial aspects of the project, including budgeting, cost control, risk management, and contract negotiations.
  • Lead the resolution of technical, commercial, and operational challenges, ensuring that risks are identified and mitigated proactively.
  • Foster collaboration between multidisciplinary teams, integrating innovative and sustainable solutions to enhance project efficiency.
  • Establish and maintain strong customer and stakeholder relationships, ensuring effective communication and alignment on project objectives.
  • Monitor project performance, schedule, and quality metrics, implementing corrective actions as needed to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support business development initiatives, contributing expertise to project proposals and strategic growth opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLSET



  • A university degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, project management, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience (typically 20+ years) in project management, engineering, or technical leadership within the energy or power sectors.
  • Strong track record in managing large and mega-scale power projects, including Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) delivery models.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading complex commercial engagements, including joint ventures and subcontractor management.
  • Experience with power plant development, including Pre-FEED and FEED scopes, construction, commissioning, and operations for large-scale energy projects.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, permitting requirements, and industry standards relevant to power project execution.
  • Professional certification in project management (e.g., PMI, APM, IPMA, AIPM) is desirable.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and risk management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in project management tools, financial analysis, and reporting systems.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing diverse groups and fostering strong partnerships.
