Packaging Designer

Your Opportunity: Jon Michael Design, a division of Taylor Corporation, is looking for a talented Packaging Designerto join our creative team in NY! In this role, you'll collaborate closely with Art Directors on our Innovation team, contributing to new accounts and forward-thinking initiatives across the agency. You'll be involved in developing compelling design work and fresh brand concepts for a wide range of outputs-including packaging, advertising, logos, merchandising, 360 campaigns, social media content, and photo shoots.

We're looking for a versatile designer who's passionate about every facet of design. You'll support both the Art Director and Senior Art Director-taking on everything from creative concepting to hands-on design execution. This includes setting up DTOs for production, ensuring alignment on print specifications, and managing the back-and-forth process for retouching and comps.

Success in this role requires strong graphic design skills, fluency in design software, and a mix of creativity, clear communication, organization, and a collaborative mindset.

Your Responsibilities:

• Working collaboratively with the Art Director and Senior Art Director, you will design work for new client programs within the design studio, from concept generation through to design completion
• Lead by example to ensure that you and your team deliver exceptional creative work
• Contribute ideas and original content for thought pieces, social media, and internal communications
• Have day-to-day ownership of the quality of creative deliverables across a range of projects
• Work closely with the Creative Team and Project Manager to ensure that creative output is delivered within the timings and budgets agreed upon and ensure that process and resources are appropriate

You Must Have:

• BFA or BS in Packaging Design, Graphic Design, Branding, or related major
• In-depth knowledge of packaging design, printing materials, and structure
• 5+ years of experience working in a related field such as Beauty or Fashion
• Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat
• Strong branding and design skills
• Ability to render in 2D for presentations; 3D rendering program experience is a plus!
• Retouching capabilities
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrable experience of being "good beyond the brief" and has been able to consistently take work to the next level
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities, anticipate demands, and communicate status appropriately
• Ability to prepare mockup packaging for client review
• Proficiency in MS Office software (e.g., Excel, Word, Power Point)

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $70k - 80k. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The range listed is just one component of Taylor Corporation's total compensation and benefits package for employee.
