About the Job

General Statement of Responsibilities:

Boynton Health is looking for a temporary Pharmacist on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 8:30 am - 5:00pm from. June 3 - September 30. There may be an opportunity for this to transition into a casual position.

Detailed Job Responsibilities:

  • Enter, fill, and check prescriptions for dispensing to patients per pharmacy procedures and protocols, as well as state and federal laws.
  • Process prescriptions employing the pharmacy's current pharmacy software system.
  • Verify orders prepared by pharmacy technicians.
  • Answer the phone to receive phoned-in prescriptions from providers, complete prescription transfers, and respond to requests within the confines of state and federal privacy laws.
  • Perform DUR and Quality Assurance.
  • Document patient and prescriber interactions in patient profile.
  • Assist pharmacy technicians in the return-to-stock process for prescriptions that are not picked up by patients.
  • Check for outdated, or soon to be outdated, drugs in all areas of the pharmacy on a regular basis.
  • Serve as a medication information resource for patients, Boynton Health staff and outside providers.
  • Counsel each patient regarding use and precautions for their new prescriptions.
  • Prepare orders of vaccines and station stocks for all BH clinics, including the Minneapolis College and BH St Paul Clinics.
  • Order medication and prepare orders for U of MN research departments.
  • Verify and dispense prescriptions for a public health tuberculosis program.
  • Open and close pharmacy per protocols and per urgent care needs.
  • Respond to security and cold chain calling trees regarding alarms when the clinic is closed.
  • Promote a safe, equitable, and respectful environment in which concerns can be addressed effectively.
  • Assist in training new staff.
  • Assume the Director of Pharmacy responsibilities as required to handle circumstances that arise during the absence or unavailability of the director.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Pharmacy plus six years of experience, or a Doctor of Pharmacy plus one year of experience
  • Current Minnesota Pharmacist Licensure
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting a culture that respects and advances diversity and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Experience working with transgender patients.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $62.57-$65 hourly; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
