ABOUT THE JOB

The Tepa Companies are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to participate in project design from the conceptual phase to the construction phase. As the Senior Mechanical Engineer you will collaborate with the various project teams to develop, refine, and update design criteria, design direction, and be responsible for generation of engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates. It is preferred that the successful candidate have experience working with at least one of the following entities: Federal, state, and local governments.

  • Facilitates the definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables
  • Performs QA/QC review of design and construction documents such as drawings, specifications, calculations, equipment selections, code application, Request for Information (RFI's), and submittal reviews
  • Reviews code related items with engineers to ensure compliance
  • Develops schematic design, design development, and construction documents
  • Simulation and computer modeling of building HVAC and building energy
  • Edits, develops, and reviews basis of design (BOD) narratives and reports
  • Understanding of and selections for chilled water, condenser water, heating hot water, variable and constant flow, pumping, air handling, and direct-expansion systems
  • Understanding of and selections for plumbing systems
  • Understanding of fire protection systems
  • Understanding of building controls systems and application of sequence of operations, controls diagrams, and controls points list
  • Perform life-cycle analyses and energy/cost analyses of mechanical and plumbing systems .
  • Perform design and construction cost estimating and evaluate contractor pricing and estimates.
  • Provide support during construction both in the office and the field, to include site visits, performing construction submittal reviews, and addressing requests for information (RFIs).
  • Manage and develop work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours, and provide guidance to engineers on management of their task hours.
  • Travel to client locations as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or similar from Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology accredited college or university
  • A minimum of ten (10) years' experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer or having passed the FE exam with ability to become licensed engineer within a year of hire preferred.
  • 4+ years of design experience in at the Federal government market (DoD/Air Force preferred)
  • AutoCAD and Revit design experience
  • Demonstrated ability to fulfill commitments on schedule and meet clients' service expectations and requirements
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in building working relationships and interacting with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills, including logical thinking, attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness, as well as a commitment to producing high-quality deliverables
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet multiple schedule deadlines

Preferred (not required):

  • Previous military experience
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
