Job Purpose

The Assembly Department Quality Unit Lead is responsible for identifying and reporting (internal KPI) top quality issues on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Using trending data, future plans, and reflection from current theme activity, establish and delegate business plan themes with linkage to Plant and department vision and mission to supports quality product creation with a customer viewpoint. This position will create and report Assembly Quarterly and Monthly plant level reports that include Situation Aanalysis (SA) and PDCA to maintain and strengthen quality stability and culture.

Quality Unit lead will oversee the planning and confirmation of department Quality Gate structure, content, and placement for existing production models and new models. This position is also responsible to gain Dept Inspecting Engineer approval for Quality Gate content removal.

This position will track trigger reporting in compliance to plant and department procedures, advise root cause analysis and approve countermeasure activities and closure.

The Assembly Quality Unit Leader will directly mentor and lead the quality and Global Automotive Line Control /Line End Tester (LET) team managers. Ensuring team focus is aligned to business plan themes and production success.

Key Accountabilities

  • Daily KPI (A Rank, Shipping Quality Verification (SQV), Global Direct Pass) results - report and drive focus if gaps exist
  • Weekly Quality results - role up and present to Leadership
  • Monthly Quality results - role up and present to Leadership
  • Advise on plant hinjuku activity and content
  • Challenge Dept. to rotate PDCA and achieve results through Process verificatiion (Genba) focus
  • Advise Project Lead and Quality Project Leader on New Modelproblem management strategies and progress
  • Provide technical support to dept. Inspecting Engineerfor struggle items
  • Create delegate monitor and advise Busniess Plantheme activity (action and results)
  • Develop and mentor direct reports through evaluations, daily feedbackand training plan

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant years of experience.
  • 8+ years experience; 5+ years in Quality or New Model role
  • Product manufacturing knowledge and engineering principles as it relates to new model, safety, quality, and delivery
  • Strong interpersonal skills, high-impact communication skills, project management skills
  • Ability to develop strategies and initiatives at Department level
  • Ability to present to varying audiences, conduct in-depth technical analysis, lead, and prioritize multiple projects, work in a team environment as well independently
  • Ability to mentor and develop associates

Working Conditions

  • 50+ hours per week
  • Travel domestic an international to other plants and suppliers
