Job Summary

Responsible for the ethical identification, sourcing, negotiation and execution of purchase agreements and/or contracts for the procurement of goods, services and equipment for Prisma Health as delegated by Exec Director Supply Chain. Ensures diligent financial analysis, contract maintenance, and contract pricing integrity throughout all system contracts. A thorough knowledge of market conditions is required as it relates to determining source of supply, Serves as a liaison to all departments and staff with vendors. Must effectively manage time, work efficiently, work accurately and work collaboratively with others. Works in identifying cost savings/avoidances, standardization and utilization opportunities with Department heads and members of the Value Analysis Teams.

Essential Functions

  • Ensures proper identification, sourcing, negotiation and execution of purchase agreements and/or contracts for the procurement of goods, services and equipment. Maintains working knowledge of Local and GPO agreements available for utilization. Works on behalf of Contracts/Supply Chain as members of standing committees within the organization and GPOs as assigned.

  • Maintains and builds Contracts/Pricing agreements, according to Purchasing policy, with associated items through the Supply Chain Information System and other integral systems to ensure pricing, Dates of Service, Unit of Measure, negotiated Consignment and other vital points of information

  • Works with Departments, Value Analysis, Facilities, Biomed, etc. in the evaluation of new products and/or equipment while maintaining standardization, while driving cost efficiencies and not impacting operational performance.

  • Is a liaison between suppliers and department to assist in determining/evaluating new products/equipment and services levels required for new/existing products and equipment; also assists in measuring/reporting level of contractual compliance. Serves as a liaison between supplier and Corporate Legal Department in negotiating/ implementing Contractual issues. Also serves as a liaison between supplier and Corporate Finance/AP in resolving invoicing issues and other financial concerns.

  • Constant and consistent re-evaluation of pricing through Value Analysis, Negotiations, request for proposals, existing contracts, GPO Contracts and various pricing tools. Works independently to assure the best pricing is being obtained.

  • Maintains timely documents and reports on cost savings/cost avoidances along with other pertinent data on projects.

  • Collaborates with Construction Procurement Manager to ensure proper coordination of Capital Procurement and Construction Procurement projects.

  • Works with Materials Management and Accounts Payable to provide customer support on all issues related to purchase order discrepancies and issues.

  • Works closely with SCIS to support SCM-related activities within the scope of Contracts data management. Maintains data and data files in line with applicable policies and procedures associated with SCIS.

  • This position may be required to focus solely on a "specific task" and will not be responsible for other duties outside of that scope.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

  • This is a non-management job that report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education - Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Materials Management, or Communications preferred

  • Experience - Five (5) years of experience purchasing, or materials preferred.

In Lieu Of

  • In lieu of the education and experience requirements noted above, Associate degree and seven (7) years purchasing and/or materials experience or High School with nine (9) years Purchasing and/or materials experience.

  • NA

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in the selection and purchasing of health care capital equipment - Preferred

  • Knowledge of office equipment

  • Proficient computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, database)

  • Data entry skills

  • Mathematical skills
