Position Summary

The University
of New Mexico, School of Medicine, Neurology Department seeks a qualified
Neurologist for epilepsy and neuro-hospitalist service lines.

The successful candidate will join
a multidisciplinary group of neurology faculty in providing quality patient
care in the inpatient neuro-hospitalist service and epilepsy consult and
service at UNM Hospital. Additionally,
the position will assume on-call responsibilities for adult clinical services
with fellow providers.

Academic responsibilities include
participation in teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows and
research activities of the department.

UNM Hospital is the tertiary care center for the State
and the only Primary Advanced Stroke Center, dedicated neuroscience critical
care unit, Comprehensive Movement Disorders Center, NAEC level 4 epilepsy
center, and ALS / MDA center in the State. The Department of Neurology has 30 plus
full-time and part-time attending physicians and is home to well-established
Residency and multiple Fellowship programs.

and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.

About Albuquerque, New Mexico
Albuquerque, NM is a beautiful city with Sandia Mountains to the
east and mesa to the west. At more than
a mile-high elevation, this high desert environment provides beautiful sunny
days but also the variety of all four seasons. It is ideal for outdoor activities and sports all year-round including
running, hiking, biking and skiing. Albuquerque
is 1 hour from Santa Fe, NM and 2.5 hours from Taos, NM, both world famous for
their art and culture. The State of New
Mexico is multicultural and diverse with 19 indigenous native pueblos, Navajo
reservation and three Apache tribal lands. We have excellent local cuisine, breathtaking
sunsets, numerous cultural and historic sites, lakes, rivers, deserts and
mountains.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MD
    degree or equivalent
  • Board
    eligible or certified in Neurology
  • Board
    eligible or certified in epilepsy and experience in neurohospitalist service
    lines
  • Eligible
    to work in the United States

Preferred
Qualifications:

  • 2-3
    years of clinical experience in neurological care
  • A
    demonstrated commitment to student success and working with broadly diverse
    communities
