Position Summary: As a Senior Research & Development Specialist, you will join the Coffee Black Cup Technology Team to develop technologies of the Future for iconic coffee brands and contribute to delight our consumers all around the world. Your role will involve discovering and developing innovative and competitive technologies, as well as optimizing coffee extraction processes to meet the needs of consumers, markets, and the business. Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the discovery of innovative solutions in Sciences & Technology projects for instant coffee, including equipment design and modifications.
- Provide technical expertise on Extraction for Innovation & Renovation projects, including guidance for processing parameters and equipment optimization.
- Act as a mentor and coach for R&D Specialists and Product Developers in your area of competence.
- Ensure first-time right implementation of innovative products and processes, supporting business objectives.
- Project Management: Manage Time, resources, and stakeholders for small to medium size projects, and/or product development stream in multi-market projects.
- People and Know-how: Communicate findings effectively with stakeholders and partners. Work in project teams within R&D, Application Groups, Markets, Factories (Nestle & Co-man) and Business Units. Participate in training for Application Groups, including presenting in Coffee Product Development workshops. Serve as technical resource to colleagues in developed expertise areas.
- Technical/Scientific: Ensure intellectual asset management practices are applied (Freedom to Operate, Prior Art, Protection Strategy, etc.). Comply with Nestle Integrated Management System and NQMS, knowledge management principles, and all other company policies and procedures. Continue to expand and share knowledge in scientific field and business aspects of the beverage industry. Leverage the learnings from relevant training courses and apply knowledge to different business problems.
Job Qualifications (Minimum Education, Experience, and Knowledge)
- Bachelor's degree in engineering is required, preferably in process engineering or food science engineering; MS or PhD preferred
- Minimum 5-8 years in food & beverage industry.
- Experience in Coffee Extraction required
- Has followed the training curriculum set up in Coffee training roadmap
- Solid knowledge in scientific / technical field
- Competent in all areas of the trial management process
- Strong understanding of project management in R&D and basic project management skills
- Understanding of consumer insight and research methodologies, Finance, and Marketing
- Understanding of the global I&R process and Nestle R&D Strategy
- Demonstrate a mindset & commitment to continuously improve his/her contribution to their R&D Unit
