Position Summary: The Quality Laboratory Services Manager is a key role responsible for overseeing all laboratory operations for a fast moving dietary supplements manufacturing site. This position involves managing investigations, ensuring product quality, implementing best practices, reviewing audit reports, collaborating with suppliers, and monitoring staff performance. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency while ensuring regulatory compliance. As the Manager, you will have the opportunity to lead, train, motivate, and develop a talented group of up to 25 team members, fostering their growth and success. - Manage all laboratory operations.
- Review investigation reports to determine necessary corrective and preventive actions.
- Provide logistical and resource support to meet throughput expectations and customer fill rates, including supply and personnel resources and prioritization direction.
- Oversee testing and product issues for raw materials and manufactured products in the laboratory.
- Create and implement laboratory best practices across the laboratory network.
- Review regulatory and customer audit reports and implement necessary corrective and preventive actions in response to audit observations.
- Collaborate with recruiting and compensation departments to conduct interviews and make compensation offers for potential candidates.
- Take ownership of and deploy laboratory management systems and test plans as defined by corporate policies and procedures.
- Establish and manage a fully functioning Quality Control laboratory responsible for analyzing raw materials and bulk dietary supplements in accordance with CFR 111 requirements.
- Work with raw material/component suppliers and Procurement to effectively communicate quality issues and achieve resolution.
- Monitor the performance and competency of laboratory staff and provide necessary development.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Experience and Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or other Science related field required. 10+ years of related experience with advanced laboratory expertise. Demonstrating extensive experience and expertise in GMP laboratory management, the ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the regulatory requirements and best practices in maintaining quality and compliance within the laboratory setting. Requiring advanced expertise in chromatography troubleshooting, strong command of analytical techniques and the ability to effectively communicate complex scientific concepts. Displaying a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, the candidate should also possess a strong familiarity with fundamental laboratory record-keeping systems. Demonstrating strong influencing skills and the ability to work effectively on a team, along with a passion for continuous learning, teaching, and building capabilities in others. Exhibiting exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with colleagues and cross-functional partners. Demonstrating exceptional technical writing skills, with the ability to proficiently read, analyze, and interpret complex documents Exhibiting a high level of proficiency in effectively addressing sensitive inquiries or complaints, showcasing exceptional interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Demonstrating a proactive and self-motivated approach, the ideal candidate should consistently exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills, effectively balancing the roles of a team leader and a team player.
