DESCRIPTION

The incumbent will perform advance perfusionist techniques and provide lead operational support for other perfusionist in the department. Participates in maintaining the care delivery systems to meet patient care needs. Functions within policies and procedures of the hospital and within the legal framework of the state. Performs advanced operational duties anddifficult cases requiring special training in addition to performing the normal range of duties. Participates in equipment evaluation and procurement; supports the maintenance of records pertaining to equipment use. Participates in formal training as needed to perform advanced technical work in the selection, preparation, operation, and maintenance of thecardiopulmonary bypass and ancillary equipment. Provides routine and specialized patient care services by maintaining knowledge of utilizing technical perfusion equipment in cardiac surgery, as well as, other circulatory support devices. Performs other related duties as required.

Depending on experience, the selected candidate will be hired at the Sr. Perfusionist level or Principal Perfusionist level.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduated from an accredited perfusion school.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP).

  • Four (4) years of related experience, preferably in an academic medical center.Proven experience with complicated surgical procedures requiring circulatory arrests such as pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE).

  • Experience with a variety of Heart Lung Machines, SCP centrifugal pump for Veno-Veno Liver Bypass and Left Heart Bypass, IABP, Heartmate and Impella Implantable Ventricular Devices, Intraoperative Auto-Transfusion Devices, eCPR, ECMO devices, such as CardioHelp and Spectrum, HIPEC, XViVO, Hepzato, Blood Saturation Monitors and POC Testing Devices.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical and perfusion terminology.

  • Ability to teach and demonstrate ideas of routine scientific application.

  • Ability to conduct oneself in a healthy and professional manner regarding sterile dress code etiquette and communicate in a professional manner.

  • Must be able to work with adaptability, flexibility and maintain composure during stressful and/or adverse conditions.

  • Must be available to take calls and report to work in a timely manner.

  • Knowledge of medical and perfusion terminology.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy (PTE) or other procedures with Deep Hypothermic Circulatory Arrests.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work various hours and location based on business needs.
  • Ability to lift, move, push and pull heavy objects and equipment weighing from 60 to 350 lbs. * Ability to spend 95% of working time seating, stooping, standing, reaching up and down, handling equipment and supplies carefully and safely.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $199,300 - $247,804 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $95.45 - $118.68

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
