Kratos has an exciting opportunity for an Orbital Analyst Engineer.

The Orbital Analyst will be focused on satellite orbit determination, maneuver planning, evaluating, gathering, interpreting, and analyzing the satellite orbital data and generating the relevant satellite information needed. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Candidate must show ability to effectively communicate with various team members, customers, as well as communicate with vendor support
  • Assess on-orbit operations through planning, execution and debrief phases
  • Creates initial and post maneuver orbit determination
  • Executes Kalman Filter monitoring/analysis and manipulation
  • Develops and improves operation procedures, scripts, including unit and system testing
  • Inteface with the customer and operational users to define operational requirements and propose solutions to address them
  • Effectively work with a cross functional engineering team
  • Travel as necessary to support system integration, testing, and customer meetings
  • Be a strong team player and leader to the project team and to the organization
  • Willing to travel to provide customer support (typically 10% travel)
  • Required to either be able to obtain a TS/SCI, or currently have a TS/SCI

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Physics, Engineering or related STEM field, and at least 7 years relevant work experience (willing to consider a range of work and educational levels)
  • Strong technical background in orbital mechanics/astrodynamics
  • Knowledge and experience in satellite operations, including attitude control, power management, thermal control, propulsion, command and handling, and anomaly determination and resolution
  • Familiarity with various astrodynamics tools (Free Flyer, System Tool Kit (STK), NASA General Mission Analysis Tool (GMAT), Orbit Determination Toolbox (ODTBX))
  • Ability to conduct modeling, simulation and analysis of orbital maneuvers and trajectory estimations
  • A self-starter and able to work in a fast paced execution environment, with small and large engineering project teams (an absolute must)
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. U.S. citizenship is required.


Preferred Skills and Experience



  • Space Domain Awareness (SDA) planning and analysis
  • SATCOM Operational knowledge sufficient to define requirements needed for the Operators to execute their role and mission
  • Fundamental statistical analysis
  • MatLab, Python, Java, C++
  • Knowledge of astrodynamics coordinate frames (i.e. ECI & RIC)
  • Hands on SATCOM Operations experience
  • TS/SCI

Salary Range: $135,000-$165,000
