Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor - School of Social Work

The School of Social Work (SSW) in the College of Health Sciences (CHS) at the University of Missouri (MU) - Columbia invites applications from persons interested in the position of Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor, which is a 12-month, 1.0 FTE Ranked, Non-Tenure Track appointment.

About the Department/Program
The mission of the MU-SSW is to promote leadership for social and economic justice by preparing students for professional excellence and leadership in practice, research, and policy. MU-SSW has 23 full time faculty (52% tenure/tenure track and 48% non-tenure track) and two full-time staff. The School offers degrees at the BSW, MSW, and PhD levels, and has an MSW/MPH dual degree program and an MSW/PhD joint program of study. Presently, the school has about 450 students (Pre-majors, BSWs, MSWs, and PhDs). As a school, we are committed to a diverse educational environment and promote social work practice that enhances resources, enables access to services, promotes advocacy, and engenders change. The School was recently ranked in the top ten nationally of comparable research-intensive schools of social work in Academic Analytics, a tool comparing scholarly work, citations, federal grant funding, and national awards. Position Overview
To teach and supervise student trainees, work with program directors and faculty colleagues to develop, review, and administer the curriculum in line with the Council on Social Work Education's Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards.

The minimum qualifications for this position include an MSW and at least 5 years post MSW practice experience.

Candidates will be evaluated on:

• The level of their degree (e.g., PhD in social work or other human service-related professions) and extra training they have received (e.g., substance abuse certificate).
• Experience developing new courses as well as engaging in recruitment and retention efforts and/or other student success initiatives.
• Demonstrated commitment to educating future social work professionals.
• Their ability to teach practice and clinical courses in both in-person and online formats, and the extent of their experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable with using Office applications (e.g., MS Word and MS Excel) along with online database or data storage systems and online teaching platforms (e.g., Canvas).
• Experience providing professional advisement to undergraduate and graduate students.
• Exceptional problem-solving and collaboration skills and the ability to manage multiple demands and responsibilities are essential.
• Knowledge of and experience in social welfare policy, practice, and knowledge of publicly funded social services at the local, state, and federal levels is an asset.
  

Salary will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the applicant. The anticipated salary range for this position is $78,000 - $85,000, dependent upon the rank of the position offered.
