JOB SUMMARY:



The Quality Manager is responsible for the development and supervision of a proactive, prevention-oriented, statistically-based Quality Control System to assure that products shipped meet required customer standards.





JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:




  • Identifies plant quality systems improvement opportunities and manages the required change
  • Develops and implements a statistically based overall plant program of auditing and process control procedures, within Corporate and Group guidelines, to assure that all products, processes and quality related systems meet requirement.
  • Has authority to stop processing or shipping any products considered to be of questionable conformance with requirements.
  • Supervises and directs the activities of the Quality Assurance Department, including establishing and operating within department budget.
  • Interacts with customers concerning plant certification, complaints, corrective action required from either and provides appropriate follow up.
  • Implements procedures for inspection of incoming raw materials and components and review quality problems with vendors. Provides supplier surveillance assistance as required.
  • Maintains a system to control, review and make disposition of rejected products and raw materials.
  • Analyzes plant quality costs and causes for rejects.
  • Recommends corrective action and follow-up on quality improvement programs.
  • Determines the plant's potential to comply with new specifications and changes to existing specifications prior to production and approve all ECAP's for new and rebuild equipment.
  • Maintains a system for calibrating all key inspection, gauging and process instruments.
  • Approve purchase and repair of inspection and gauging equipment.
  • Also works with vendors to improve inspection techniques and equipment.
  • Works with manufacturing and manufacturing engineering to determine and assure that manufacturing processes are statistically capable of meeting requirements.
  • Initiates and retains necessary quality records, from incoming materials through final audit, in accordance with Corporate and Group policy.
  • Interprets pertinent Corporate, Group and Plant Quality Standards for plant personnel and develops and maintains plant quality manual in conformance with group standards.
  • Identifies quality related training needs and direct training activities through Human Resources.
  • Monitors and reports on all customer scorecards and seeks corrective actions to maintain favorable standings.
  • Performs other duties as required.





JOB REQUIREMENTS:



EDUCATION:



Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, or related field.



EXPERIENCE:



5 years of experience in Quality Control or related field, with 3 years of experience at the general supervisory level. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and statistics is preferred.
