Under general supervision of the Department Head directs departmental financial activities including pre- and post-award functions for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE)

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile budgets to actual to provide statements and budget projections by assembling and presenting data.
  • Develop a shadow system to reconcile fund expenses against Banner, track cost share, start-up, flexible, indirect cost return, and faculty expenses, and forecast budget balances; monitors, prepares and/or directs the preparation of the fiscal reports.
  • Manages the administration of all funds including grants, contracts, and subcontracts; oversees federal, state, industry, foundation, internal or other funding; performs high-level research and provides reports and detailed analyses for administrative use.
  • Support the preparation and submission of grant applications, contracts and other sponsored research agreements
  • Support principal investigators in their interactions with university offices regarding pre- and post-award administration of grants and contracts.
  • Ensures all contractual requirements have been met; reviews, edits, and approves fiscal portions for grants and awards and contracts; completes the closeout requirements including a review of the final financial reports.
  • Extrapolate, analyze, and leverage financial data from university systems to generate reports.
  • Support financial transactional needs of units (Chrome River transactions, iBuy, etc.) including travel; miscellaneous reimbursements; procurement card purchases; validate correct invoices prior to authorization of payment; journal vouchers; etc.
  • Maintain and provide historical context on budgets for initiatives, projects, etc.
  • Stay informed of OBFS and OSP policy and changes to act as a resource for units.
  • Helps resolve financial, policy and procedural problems while ensuring compliance with federal, state and university regulations.
  • Maintain electronic fiscal records and office filing system.
  • Act as liaison with college of engineering HR including approval and submission of graduate assistantship appointments and faculty summer appointments.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications Required:

  1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a field related to the position.
  2. Five years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience.
(NOTE: A Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.)Demonstrated experience with sponsored research administration.
