Compensation Grade: H96Compensation Details: Minimum: $20.00 - Maximum: $20.00 HourlyDepartment (OPH) Office of Public HealthJob Description: Responsibilities Health Research, Inc. is seeking an Hourly Project Assistant II to work within the Bureau of Chronic Disease Evaluation and Research to provide support on the Division's Chronic Disease Public Opinion Poll. The Chronic Disease Public Opinion Poll is an annual survey designed to generate data for Bureaus and Programs in the Division to plan and evaluate community education and engagement activities to prevent and control chronic disease in New York State. The Hourly Project Assistant II will work develop an understanding of the connection between public opinion and public health policy and analyze and summarize the findings of the 2025 Poll. The Hourly Project Assistant II will use SAS to clean and analyze the data and summarize key findings in data visualizations geared toward a variety of audiences. This position is part of the Pathways to Public Health Internship Program. This position will last approximately 10 weeks from 6/2/2025 to 8/8/2025. It is made available through funding from the Center for Disease Control's Public Health Infrastructure Grant to expand opportunities to strengthen career pathways to public health by bringing together students of all disciplines and academic levels with public health professionals to create a space of exploration, learning, and development. Currently or within the past six months enrolled in an institution of higher education pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Public Health, psychology, sociology, business, marketing, public policy, political science, or related field. Preferred Qualifications A demonstrated understanding of health equity and the social determinants of health, as well as experience analyzing and summarizing data on health disparities. Experience with data analysis using SAS or other data analysis software. Conditions of Employment Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Travel, up to 10% of the time, will be required. The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.
