Summary:
The Polysomnography Technologist II performs sleep studies, PAP-Level titration, split studies, and other polysomnography related procedures in an effective and efficient manner as ordered by the provider.
Responsibilities:
1.Stages and scores polysomnography studies.
2.Sets up equipment and accurately performs all technical aspects required to perform polysomnograms and PAP-Level titration, split studies and any other polysomnography-related procedure.
3.Performs all clerical functions associated with the studies such as maintaining patient log, reports quality assurance information, patient histories and other records of documentation. Transfers data from acquisition module to provider viewing station. Files completed records.
4.Reviews patient's records to ensure accuracy, verifies orders, and makes recommendations to provider.
5.Ensures all charges are completed daily.
6.Ensures proper documentation is completed regarding device description, response to procedure, and any other pertinent information.
7.Cleans and maintains equipment. Ensures work area is neat and organized.
8.Maintains sufficient supplies for polysomnography procedures.
9.Completes continuing education and in-service programs to meet regulatory and job requirements.
10.Actively participates in staff meetings and on committees as requested.
11.Participates in performance improvement activities.
12.Presents and promotes a professional demeanor at all times, establishes high standards of customer service, supports responsibility, pride, and teamwork, remains calm under pressure, and offers reasonable solutions for problems.
13.Demonstrates appropriate interaction with and provides recommended respiratory care and services to all patients. Exhibits knowledge and basic understanding regarding the needs of neonatal, adolescent, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients, and the cultural needs of all patients.
14.Applies knowledge of principles of standard precautions. Routinely uses PPE to avoid risk of exposure to self and others.

Education
Completion of an accredited polysomnography program. High school diploma required.
Licensure/Certification
Must be a Registered Polysomnographer and/or respiratory care practitioner.
Experience
One year or more experience in polysomnography preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
*Ability to stage and score sleep studies and discuss findings with overreading provider.
*Knowledge of the care and use of tools, equipment and machinery that apply to the position.
*Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
*Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
*Proficient with MS Office and EPIC, and able to learn new software rapidly.
*Ability to stand and work on hard floors for duration of shift.
Valid NC Driver's License: No
If driving a Wayne UNC Vehicle, must be 21 years old and MVR must be approved by Risk Management.
