We are looking for an apprentice to develop expertise and build a career in fleet maintenance at OUC.
In this role, you will be responsible for obtaining a working knowledge in areas such as mechanics and vehicle maintenance and repair of both gasoline and diesel fueled engines. You will learn basic welding, minor paint and body repair and gain expertise in hydraulic systems.

The ideal candidate will have:
- Successful completion of OUC's Pre-Apprenticeship Program (preferred)
- Minimum of one (1) month of experience in automotive, equipment repair, general maintenance or other related environments
- Must possess a current and valid Florida Driver's License
- Must obtain Florida Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements within one (1) year of hire and maintain the licensure thereafter (required)
- Ability to obtain and maintain the following certifications:
- ASE A7 Heating and Air Conditioning OR ASE T7 HVAC Systems

Salary Range: Starting at $20.458 per hour (Estimated $42,552.64 annually) with a structured step progression system and performance-based pay increases every 6 months up to $26.282 per hour (Estimated $54,666.56 annually)

Job Purpose:
Entry level apprentice position in the Fleet team that will learn and train in the repair and maintenance of OUC vehicles. Support the fleet team in all aspects of OUC vehicle maintenance and diagnostics.
Primary Functions:
- Participate in training programs which consists of learning to perform preventive maintenance on vehicles/equipment under general guidance until proven capability;
- Participate in classroom studies, visual and audio programs, practical applications and other exercises as applicable and designated by the supervisor;
- Transport fleet vehicles, fuel, and equipment;
- Participate in a training program to learn:
- Light repairs on passenger cars, trucks, and equipment tires;
- Small engine servicing and repair;
- Perform tire repairs and replacement;
- Re-fuel and wash vehicles;
- Learn and/or assist in a variety of more advanced work, such as mechanical repairs to gasoline and diesel engines, troubleshooting with diagnostic testing equipment, electrical system repairs, brake system repairs, etc.;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Technical Requirements:
- Ability to obtain working knowledge of all, but not limited to the following:
- Mechanics and vehicle repair/maintenance;
- Gasoline and diesel engines;
- Tire repair;
- Small engine repairs;
- Familiarity with all, but not limited to the following:
- Basic welding;
- Minor paint and body repair;
- Hydraulic systems (preferred);
- Computer skills to access vehicle repair information are required.
- Ability to:
- Follow instructions, working as a team member as well as independently;
- Obtain and maintain ASE certification requirements;
- Use related computer systems to access vehicle repair information;
- Use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and standard office equipment (telephone, computer, copier, etc.).
Education/ Certification/ Years of Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED;
- Successful completion of OUC's Pre-Apprenticeship Program (preferred);
- Minimum of one (1) month of experience in automotive, equipment repair, general maintenance or other related environments;

Working Conditions:
This job involves frequent exposure to chemicals and excessive noise. This job may involve occasional exposure to noxious fumes and rare exposure to extreme weather and insects.
Physical Requirements:
This job requires standing and walking, frequent lifting of up to 50lbs, climbing, speaking & hearing, detailed inspection/reading, writing, and may involve frequent driving of a company vehicle. This job may require occasional sitting.
