Overview

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS), a premier provider of ordnance weapons and tactical systems to the U.S. Department of Defense and allied nations, has an opening for a Summer Engineer Intern to join the Munitions (MUN) Business Unit (BU) Engineer team at our GD-OTS locations in Wilkes-Barre and Hanover Twp.

Major Position Responsibilities

Exposed to a wide range of work:

  • Developing Standard work
  • Process drawing - converting AutoCAD to 3D models
  • Design work: Modeling of Existing Equipment in Solidworks
  • Commissioning of Capital equipment (assisting engineers in all tasks)
  • Cycle Time/ Dowtime Analysis
  • Process capability analysis and improvement - This will most likely be one of their larger projects...ID our top 3 highest scrap CNC machines, initial process capability, root cause drivers of variation, and design corrective actions into the process
  • Special Projects for intern.
  • Support engineering department as needed with various administrative tasks.


Basic Qualifications

  • 3rd or 4th Year Engineering Students (Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Preferred, but open to Electrical or Industrial Engineering Applicants as well)
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Solidworks
  • Bachelor's Degree In-Progress - Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • Self-Driven Individual
  • Preferred engineering student at an ABET accredited university
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Basic computer skillset - word processing, excel, power point, etc.
  • Solidworks experience a plus
