Church & Dwight is currently recruiting for a Manager of Technology Development to join our Technology and Consumer Experience (TCE) Team. We are seeking an experienced CPG R&D talent who is passionate about innovation and addressing unmet consumer needs. As a Manager of Technology development, you will play a critical role in assessing new technologies and areas for innovation to advance the global innovation pipeline of beloved Personal Care and Health & Wellness businesses such as Batiste, Trojan, and Therabreath, impacting more than1 billion dollars in company sales. This role demands a future-forward global thinker and creative scientist capable of developing and advancing transformational technologies and consumer experiences to drive incremental growth for our lead categories. You will be responsible for independently leading research projects that may entail the development of new formulations and or improving existing products to meet customer needs and regulatory standards. This position requires a strong background in consumer goods chemistry, extensive knowledge of good laboratory practices, experience translating consumer insight into executable innovation, and an understanding of how to take products from idea to the commercial market. Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Analyze consumer feedback, identify and understand consumer needs and the gaps between consumer needs and existing products,prepare summary report and initiate/conduct follow-through tasks.
- Propose technology development programs based on consumer research and identify technical solutions to address unmet needs, further demonstrate concept and technical feasibility, formulate detailed development plan, follow through the plan to meet objectives and commitments
- Conduct bench-top formula development of personal care products. Design and execute experiments. Collect and analyze stability data. Report results, draw conclusions and make data-based recommendations to management.
- Conduct product research and development from concept to proof-of-principle milestones, transfer lead candidate prototype technologies from lab to pilot scale and provide technical support to assess design for manufacturing feasibility assessment.
- Serve as RD Technical Project Lead (TPL), leading development across the RD function being point person with cross functional partners
- Design and execute experiments. Collect and analyze data. Report results, draw conclusions and make data-based recommendations to management.
- Adhere to and follow established procedures and policies for working in the laboratory designated for the development of FDA regulated products.
- Independently complete other tasks as assigned.
Education and Experience
- B.S. degree from an accredited institution in Chemistry/Chemical/Mechanical/Materials Engineering, Biochemistry or related disciplines
- 8+ years of laboratory experience, a M.S. with +5 years' experience or, PhD with 3+ years' experience.
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to develop, organize and prioritize tasks within assigned projects and work with supervisor to manage assigned projects.
- Ability to work on multiple, concurrent projects without manager oversight. Possess strong organizational, work planning, and problem-solving skills. Understand company business environment and make positively impactful decisions to project teams.
- Ability to manage large workload at times and to adapt to reprioritization as necessary in a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to work in a cross-functional environment involving marketing, processing, packaging, analytical, safety and clinical regulatory, etc.
- Ability to supervise and mentor junior staff.
- Good oral and written skills.
