The Division of Traffic Operations, Signals, and Street Lighting is seeking to hire motivated candidates to perform responsible work in electrical engineering. The successful candidates will engage in research, investigations, studies, or examinations related to the engineering functions or activities of the department or agency. Prepare designs and plans using AutoCAD, and evaluate contract documents and specifications, working drawings, and other technical specifications and estimates of quantities. Conduct field visits and complete lighting survey projects and any improvement requests to ensure city standards, IESNA, and national electrical codes are met. The successful candidates will coordinate with design consultants and review submitted plans for the development/modification of new and/or existing signalized intersections and street lighting work. Coordinate electrical service, relocation, and other requests for utilities. Advise and make recommendations to other city and state agencies regarding traffic signal and street lighting projects. Review and approve shop drawings and catalog cuts for construction. Maintain records of drawings, plans, maps, surveys, and inspection data.

Hours/Shift: 35 hours/Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Additional Information: This position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program agreed to between the City and DC37.

Minimum Qualifications 1. A baccalaureate degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in electrical engineering work; or 2. A baccalaureate degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college and a master's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university. A master's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university can only be used to substitute for one year of full-time satisfactory work experience in electrical engineering. A degree in any other engineering area, or in any engineering technology area, is not acceptable.

-Candidate should be detail orientated, accurate, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Candidate should have the ability to work effectively with others and collaborate in a team environment.
-Candidate should be proficient in AutoCAD and have strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
-Familiarity with lighting design software such as Visual Professional, AG132, and photometric tools as well as knowledge of the Illuminating Engineering Society of America (IESNA)
recommendations, NEC, NESC, AASHTO, and FHWA is preferred.
-Candidate should have the ability to read and interpret contract specifications and other technical specifications.
-Preference will be given to candidate who possesses a driver's license valid in the state of New York.
