About the role

The ECDP Engineer I, Process Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) is a two-year program in which participants will have the opportunity to gain valuable design and field engineering experience. As part of the Program, you will be required to review our plant sites, as needed. Expected travel is about 25%.

Candidates for the ECDP Engineer I are required to have a Bachelor's degree. Ideal candidates will be new or recent grads, with up to 2 years of relevant experience. For a list of additional qualifications, please refer to the Position Requirements section below.

The ECDP Engineer I will participate in one or more of the following areas:

  • Plant upgrade projects, capital projects
  • Plant Process Instrumentation and Controls Engineering (I&C)
  • Support Operations and field assignments

The ECDP Engineer I assignments are based on a structured career development program, to develop today's new hires into tomorrow's subject matter experts and leaders.Assignments will be structured to fill the following needs:

  • The developmental needs of the ECDP Engineer.
  • The needs of the business and stakeholders
  • The resource needs of the Engineering and Projects Departments
  • The needs of the Facilities/Operations

Expectations from ECDP Engineer I:

There will typically be 4 assignments of varying lengths structured to gain exposure to the main functions and systems making up the Energy from Waste facilities, as well as the engineering fundamentals and processes supporting it. In unusual cases, assignments durations may be changed for business or personnel reasons. Based on the business needs and standard rotations map, ECDP assignments will be planned collaboratively with Engineering, Projects, and Operations leadership and the ECDP, coordinated by respective hiring managers during the two years' ECDP Program.

Reworld's Environment:

Reworld's Thermomechanical Treatment Facilities (TTFs) include boilers, steam turbine generators, steam condensers, metals recovery equipment, air pollution control equipment, conveying systems, waste and ash handling/distribution systems, plant utilities and cranes.

What You'll Do:

Reporting directly to the Director of Instrumentation and Controls Engineering, the ECDP Process Instrumentation and Controls Engineer will be providing support for I&C design aspects of capital projects, operations support and infrastructure assessment projects at various EFW (Energy from Waste) operating facilities.

Responsibilities include but not limited to any of the following:

  • Upgrades and Troubleshooting: Support development of plant upgrades and technical troubleshooting, using RCA/Problem Solving Methodologies.
  • Capital Projects: Support the Project Management Office (PMO) through capital project leadership or support, may also be required to perform project execution duties at larger facilities.
  • Design Engineering: Support design engineering activities for upgrade and new projects. This includes the collection and review of plant technical information, review and development of piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&ID's), development of I&C Databases, development of work scopes, plant modification option evaluation, concept development including process and I&C design calculations, concept layout sketch and/or drawing development, request for vendor proposal specification development, bid evaluation support, design review, construction inspections and commissioning support.

Position Requirements:

Location:The role is based at our Corporate Office in Morristown, NJ. Some relocation assistance is available.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Preferred) or Chemical Engineering.

Experience/Background:

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Internship, Co-Op or prior work experience in Automation, PLC's, Electrical/Instrumentation & Controls or Process Controls Engineering.
