The University of Missouri School of Medicine Department of Pediatric Neurology

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled pediatric neurology nurse practitioner to join our team composed of two professors of pediatric neurology, one nurse practitioner, one epilepsy coordinator and two neurology nurses. This role offers the opportunity to work in a specialized pediatric neurology setting to provide comprehensive patient care in a supportive and collaborative environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

* Excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills and creative problem-solving skills
* Initiates and orders selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations and laboratory examination, prescribes medication regimens, interprets findings and alters plan of care according to accepted standards of care and practice guidelines
* Educates and counsels in the areas of health promotion, maintenance, disease prevention, and management of acute/chronic illnesses
* Documents findings and plan of care in the patient's medical record
* Participates in team meetings and conferences to enhance an interdisciplinary approach to care delivery
* Develops the plan of care based on the diagnoses and individual patient needs, records, reports, and interprets the patient's responses to the plan of care
* Work in both in-patient and out-patient settings
* Knowledge and experience in epilepsy is essential

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in nursing is required.
Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
Preparation as a nurse practitioner in either a Master's program or a certificate program. Must be granted a "Document of Recognition" from the Missouri Board of Nursing.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: A master's degree in nursing is required
Credentials: Current RN license from the state of Missouri is required, A current ARNP license form the state of Missouri is required.
