Description

A credit and collections assistant will be responsible for completing the day-to-day accounts receivable application functions in a timely and efficient manner while optimizing relationship with field personnel and sustaining internal controls as outlined in their responsibilities. In addition, will need to assist other credit team members as required. The day-to-day assignments of this position may vary and as such, the position requires a strong ability to multi-task.

Minimum Requirements:



  • Must possess a working knowledge of accounting and/or business and two years of experience working in credit and collections and/or customer service functions.
  • Must be reliable and flexible with schedule, especially during high volume periods.


Preferred Requirements:




  • Three to five years of credit & collections experience in the Texas construction industry. Knowledge of JD Edwards.




Duties and/or Responsibilities:



  • Timely and accurate application of all cash receipt deposits to customer accounts and all cash sales invoices. Reconcile against deposit detail to ensure that all transactions have been posted.
  • Organization of supporting documentation to include filing, scanning preparation and packaging documents for storage.
  • Processing of all internal washes as required within 24 hours.
  • Provide credit applications to potential customers and advise sales regarding credit status on new and existing accounts in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate the resolution of discrepancies caused by over or short payment made by the customer. Ensure timely application of customer adjustments related to invoicing inaccuracies. For sales tax deductions - verify the customer's exemption status and adjust off the sales tax accordingly daily.
  • Maintain all accounts receivable files. Copy and file all documents.
  • Prepare reports and worksheets as requested.
  • Evaluate and handle all department calls.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Must be detailed oriented, possess strong communication skills and have strong organizational & planning skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality is crucial.
  • Understanding of accounts receivable principles.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, multi-task environment, and be team oriented.
