Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The
UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of six health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Social Work, Public Health, Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. The School teaches approximately 600 PharmD students and 145 graduate students. Position Summary |
The Social/Clinical Research Specialist will facilitate and help lead lab research efforts. Specifically, the job will participate extensively in the experiment design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation. The role will be involved with protocol modifications and evaluation of the research study, as well as the study outcome literature and presentation. It serves as the secondary research contact behind the PI. The incumbent will participate with training and handle lab management.
Responsibilities will include supporting a portfolio of funded qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method research projects. Including those that are administering mailed surveys to patients with cancer to better understand the supportive care they receive and how care decisions are made. The Social/Clinical Research Specialist will also support studies exploring ways to use risk stratification to target cancer patients for supportive services. Additional responsibilities will be assigned as needed to successfully execute and achieve the aims of the grants. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Must be detail oriented with strong project management and interpersonal skills. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Master's degree in public health or related field with at least 2 years of related work experience, including experience working with multidisciplinary research teams. Prior experience managing health care delivery research preferred |
