We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced scientific leader to join our team at CareDx. The primary function of this position is to oversee research programs and collaborations, driving innovation in diagnostic assay development for transplantation. The ideal candidate will be able to lead a range of R&D projects, collaborate with clinician investigators, interface with cross functional teams including bioinformatics, biostatistics, data science, clinical, and lab operations; and have significant experience in molecular biology methods, especially with applications of technology to measure RNA expression, and immunology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead spatial transcriptomics program and research initiatives based on gene expression profiling.
  • Develop and execute publication plans, including authoring manuscripts and conference posters.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support the discovery of new biomarkers and development of new diagnostic products.
  • Oversee collaborations with key opinion leaders in the transplant field.
  • Stay up to date with emerging research and innovations in transplantation and relevant technologies used in the field.
  • Contribute to the long-term strategic planning of the company, shaping research and product development initiatives.
  • Manage and mentor junior scientific personnel, including direct and indirect reports.
  • Develop a team to continue developing foundational understandings in transplant biology and rejection mechanisms.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, or a related discipline with 10+ years of experience, including 5 years in industry.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and building strong collaborations with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in managing R&D projects in an industry setting, ideally within diagnostic product development.
  • Strong background in molecular biology, immunology, and cellular biology.
  • Expertise in RNA isolation and gene expression profiling.
  • Experience with creating and filing intellectual property (IP) and reviewing legal agreements is highly desired.
  • Excellent interdisciplinary communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with Product Development and Design Control processes preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a systematic and detail-oriented approach.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
