About the Role:
The Firepower and Vetronics Lead for a GDLS product portfolio is responsible for ensuring overall technical design integrity, compliance, and robustness of a balanced system design. The Firepower and Vetronics Lead is accountable to program and engineering leadership and the Chief Engineer. The Firepower and Vetronics Lead have responsibility of technical scope and provide technical direction to the supporting functional organizations. The Firepower and Vetronics Lead will also support the Systems Engineering Manager, Chief Engineer, and Project Engineers. Additionally, they oversee related performance activities and drives key engineering decisions to meet project schedule and cost goals.

Responsibilities to Anticipate/Expect:
- Subsystem/domain technical authority; ensures product is developed in accordance with GDLS and customer engineering standards to achieve program requirements
- Responsible to provide direction and guidance to applicable stakeholders to deliver technical products and deliverables to support project milestones
- Ensure subsystem team products meet technical, cost, quality, and performance requirements
- Manage Tracked Firecontrol team to deliver on technical scope within project constraints, and ensures customer expectations are met
- Responsible for review and approval of related products / CDRLs / Milestone review content
- Lead Tracked Firecontrol designs and test activities and makes trade/technical decisions in coordination with Chief Engineer
- Responsible for related subcontractor performance and coordination for engineering tasks
- Lead engineer for GDLS Leadership and Customers on Tracked Firecontrol scope execution
- Coordinate with functional departments on related technical resource needs
- Support negotiations of technical requirements, scope and deliverables
- Identify potential risks and mitigation strategies
- Responsible for interface definition and arbitration, physical/functional management and technical management of the product baseline
- Responsibility for ensuring the overall product technical design integrity, design compliance with all requirements, and that the product will function as an integrated subsystem within its intended environment
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Systems or Mechanical Engineering preferred. Other technical degrees will be considered with relevant experience. Advanced master's degree in any engineering discipline preferred.
- Minimum of 10-15 years relevant experience in the engineering/defense industries
- Proven experience in technical interface with customers; especially significant experience with US Government programs
- This position will require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance. (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible)
- Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, and presentation
- Organizational capabilities to direct and lead others in a team-based environment
- Analytical skills and ability to direct and consult on technical analyses
- Experience in design, development and integration of ground combat vehicles
- Works well in team and individually
- Must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime
- Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and control account management experience is preferred
- Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) knowledge is required
- Must be willing to travel (domestic and/or foreign) as needed
- Proficiency in Windows XP, Lotus Notes, and Microsoft Office with adequate computer skills to manage the development of presentations and other methods of media display
