Role Overview: Responsible for translating high-level solution designs into detailed infrastructure software and hardware design artifacts. Ensure these artifacts are maintained and reviewed throughout the project lifecycle. Guarantee that the detailed design and implementation of the infrastructure meet both functional and non-functional requirements. Ensure the procurement, installation, and configuration of appropriate infrastructure components for all environments (development, test, stage, and production). Align the project with Northwestern Mutual's design and delivery best practices and provide team leadership for infrastructure delivery. A minimum of 3 years of experience is required, with 5-7 years recommended.
Key Responsibilities: * Identify business requirements, analyze alternatives, and make product recommendations related to software, platform, network configurations, and relevant integrations, in alignment with the TOGAF architecture framework. * Perform analysis and value stream mapping of existing ITIL processes (event management, incident/change management, server patching) and design runbook automation and orchestration solutions using tools such as Ansible, GitLab CI, and ServiceNow Orchestrator. * Evaluate data analytics techniques and tools to introduce AIOps capabilities for incident avoidance, using tools like Elastic Stack, Splunk, and Dynatrace. * Design centralized visualization solutions utilizing tools like Grafana/Kibana or technologies such as Java, Node.js, or Python to consolidate health results from different monitoring tools (e.g., New Relic, Dynatrace, Elasticsearch) and present an executive view of enterprise health. * Evaluate and conduct Proof of Concept for new tools/product offerings or capabilities (e.g., PagerDuty, Moogsoft, BigPanda, ServiceNow ITOM, ELK Machine Learning) to improve enterprise resiliency and enhance user experience. * Evaluate current or emerging open-source technologies/tools (e.g., Docker, Node.js, Ansible, GitLab CI, Jenkins) against licensed enterprise tools to design similar solutions, considering factors such as cost, portability, compatibility, and usability. * Design CI/CD pipelines for automating the entire release, testing, and deployment lifecycle of monitoring, management, and automation solutions, leveraging CI/CD tools such as GitLab for source control, GitLab CI for continuous integration pipelines, Ansible/equivalent GitLab CI runners for continuous deployment, and containerization tools for continuous testing. * Design and architect enterprise monitoring, management, automation, and analytics tool solutions, guiding the solution development through the full lifecycle of implementation. * Assist in devising a roadmap for transforming the existing enterprise monitoring landscape to achieve the next level of maturity. Recommend and deploy best practices in IT infrastructure monitoring/automation to enhance operational efficiency for the NOC.
