Description

The Senior Security System Administrator is responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of our organization's information systems. This role involves managing and maintaining cybersecurity measures, monitoring network activity, and responding to security incidents. The Senior Security System Administrator will work closely with other IT professionals to implement security protocols and safeguard sensitive data. This role also may provide support and technical administration services for Clark Nexsen's servers, clients, and data center operations, and provide guidance and leadership for others on the Operations team.

General responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:



  • Develop, implement, and maintain cybersecurity policies and procedures.
  • Monitor network activity for potential security threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Respond to and mitigate security incidents and breaches.
  • Conduct regular security audits and assessments, in collaboration with external consultants.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure secure system configurations.
  • Manage and update security tools and software.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on cybersecurity best practices.
  • Stay up to date with the latest cybersecurity trends and technologies.
  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, upgrade, and support of IT systems, and associated hardware in all offices.
  • Evaluate and perform server administrative functions in Active Directory, SharePoint, SQL Server, Exchange, and Azure as appropriate.
  • Evaluate and install system patches and application updates as directed.
  • Identify and evaluate third party vendors, technology, or processes for integration with Clark Nexsen's technology and equipment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn new skills techniques and responsibilities.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education, Technology, and Experience



  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or job-related certifications that demonstrate technical proficiency, or equivalent job-related experience is desired
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in cybersecurity or system administration.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices and standards such as NIST 800.171, ISO 27001, and CMMC 2.0.
  • Experience with security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software.
  • Proficiency in network protocols and operating systems.
  • The following industry certifications are desirable: Microsoft Azure Certifications (Security Admin, Windows Server Administrator, Azure Admin, etc.); MCITP in relevant application server technology; Comptia Network+, Security+, CISSP, CISM, or CEH
  • Should be technically proficient in one or more of the following: Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Share Point, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Windows operating system, Desktop and server virtualization technologies, Entra Active Directory, Group Policy, Storage systems and storage areas.
  • Should typically have a minimum 7 years of experience administering Windows servers and desktops with relevant industry certificates.

Physical Requirements

Work is sedentary and often performed in an office setting. The work area is lighted, heated, and ventilated. This position may require extended periods of standing, sitting, as well as some repetitive movements, bending and lifting of minimal weight. We have selected two common days in the office to nurture collaboration and innovation and to support learning and growth through engagement with colleagues. We are asking everyone to be present on Mondays and Thursdays, with a required third day that will provide additional flexibility and be set between you and your supervisor (with consideration given to your project team members and clients).
