The Analyst - Enterprise HSE Systems is responsible for collecting, reviewing, validating, and reporting of key performance HSE indicators and regulatory compliance metrics. In addition, the Analyst - Enterprise HSE Systems is responsible for development and maintenance of data visualization tools to facilitate Company-wide understanding of HSE and compliance targets, and support achievement of HSE continual improvement objectives. Primary responsibilities also include integration of analytics objectives within current (and in development) systems, as well as identification and analysis of key HSE statistics, performance indicators, and emerging trends. A broad understanding of HSE regulations and reporting requirements is essential.

Detailed Responsibilities:



  • Act as a Company-wide resource and subject matter expert for HSE data, metrics, and key performance indicators.
  • Lead data aggregation, analysis, and report development for HSE statistics (monthly and ad hoc reporting).
  • Conduct thorough analysis to identify area(s) of concern or emerging trends, integrating HSE metrics with other Company metrics (HR, operations, IT, etc.).
  • Focus on continual improvement opportunities and identification of areas of concern, deploy detailed strategy for improvement (including liaising with various Company-departments and key stakeholders), and ensure successful rollout of process improvements.
  • Assist in administering, maintaining, and updating systems utilized for collecting, storing, analyzing, tracking, and reporting HSE performance. Experience with Intelex software is a preferred.
  • Support HSE system improvement efforts and ensure data capture functionality is successfully embedded and integrate analytics objectives within current and developing HSE systems. Expertise in Excel, Power Query, Power Pivot, and PowerBI (including data analysis expressions [DAX]) along with knowledge of other data tools or formula expression languages.
  • Collect, review, validate, and report key performance HSE indicators and regulatory compliance metrics using Power Query and PowerBI (DAX) and programming languages used in storing and processing information within a relational database.
  • Develop and maintain data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI dashboards) to facilitate Company-wide understanding of HSE and compliance targets.
  • Support the achievement of HSE continual improvement objectives through data analysis and reporting.
  • Support the implementation and achievement of HSE objectives and performance goals.


Job Requirements:



  • Depth of knowledge regarding data analytics tools and working expertise with Power BI and proficiency with HSE reporting systems and system administrator function.
  • Proven track record of project and personnel management including continual improvement and business optimization / efficiency tools.
  • Core foundational knowledge of HSE metrics and regulatory process requirements.
  • Ability to understand and communicate HSE requirements and regulations and develop KPIs to track those requirements and regulations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of data design, management, and visualization.
  • Proficiency with software programs, including but not limited to: Power Query, Power Pivot, Power BI, MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint)
  • Technical and operational proficiency to identify areas of concern and opportunities for continuous improvement based on the data analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow and give directions when working with others.
  • Excellent oral communication skills with the ability to engage audiences.
  • Ability to travel to remote work sites with the capability of overnight stay(s).
  • Ability to safely navigate work sites, including but not limited to, walking, stepping, climbing, standing, bending, and kneeling during normal rig operating conditions (day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather).
  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).


Minimum Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree (Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering (e.g., Environmental, Industrial, Systems, or Petroleum), Data Analytics / Data Science, Computer Science / Information Systems (if heavily focused on data management and analytics), Business Analytics or related fields with a strong focus on data analysis and regulatory compliance
  • Two years' experience in the oil and gas industry, with experience in an HSE support role including strong understanding of related regulatory frameworks and requirements.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license and be eligible to meet requirements of Company's Vehicle Use Agreement and Driving Policy.


Preferred Requirements:



  • Four years' experience in the oil and gas industry, with experience in an HSE analyst role including strong understanding of related regulatory frameworks and requirements.
  • Minimum of one year experience with system integration / data analysis / management in the oil and gas industry or equivalent.
  • Depth of knowledge regarding data analytics tools and working expertise with Power BI and proficiency with system administrator functionality and overall use of the Intelex software application.


Additional Details:

This position requires the person to work primarily in an office environment with periodic visits to field locations in all types of weather conditions, including precipitation, cold / heat, high wind, and turbulent conditions. The successful candidate must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others including coworkers and third parties. They must be able to work closely with all levels of management and under time-sensitive deadlines to complete job assignments. They must be willing to work extended schedules that will include working days; and occasionally nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
