Compensation $87,000 to $115,000 annual salary depending on experience.

*This range reflects Carestream's good faith estimate to pay fairly as starting wage. Offers will be tailored within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process, as well as geographic market differentials for the position.


Position Summary:

The Environment Health & Safety (EHS) Environmental Specialist is a single or multiple site level position. The key focus of this position is to ensure workplace environmental and regulatory compliance at a manufacturing site(s), warehouse facility, office building, etc. through strong EHS experience and adept skillset. The EHS Environmental Specialist ensures that these policies and programs are properly administered to meet the standard of excellence that represents Carestream and its commitment to quality, safety and environmental stewardship. This position reports to the Environmental, Health, and Safety Director.

Realizing that environmental stewardship and employee safety are two of the key goals and desires of Carestream's executive leadership and the EHS Director, the EHS Environmental Specialist will execute duties and responsibilities at the highest level of integrity and professionalism to achieve top-level EHS performance and ensure compliance, mitigate risk and limit exposure that could result in liability to Carestream.

To be successful, the EHS Environmental Specialist must be adept at critical thinking, exercising sound judgement, properly executing directives in a timely manner and effectively communicate with EHS leadership and the EHS corporate core team regarding issues of concern.

Position Responsibilities:

* Provides EHS support to local site(s) as assigned.

* Enforce assigned programs that assure compliance with applicable jurisdictional EHS regulations and company EHS policies and procedures as established by the Director. Support the implementation of new programs as directed by the corporate core team.

* Maintain KPI tracking, internal and external and regulatory reporting as directed by the Director.

* Identify, record, and make recommendations to eliminate EHS hazards and risks.

* Conduct audit and inspection programs on a frequency established in collaboration with the Director.

* Present all necessary and approved general EHS training to site personnel as required by law, regulation, standards or policies.

* Support in identifying regulations, laws, codes, and industry standards that impact local site(s). Provide updates to the EHS&S Director and/or the EHS corporate core team of any changes.

* Works collaboratively with the EHS corporate core team on matters of interest and policy.

* Enforce safety policies and procedures, making recommendations for changes to the EHS Director where needed.

* Investigate workplace incidents and near misses. Make recommendations for corrective actions to the EHS Director and implement those approved.

* Administer all mandated safety training to ensure understanding, completeness, timeliness, and compliance at the site(s) as assigned. Implement approved programs to promote and reinforce safety knowledge, as well as ensure safety compliance as directed.

* Ensure all industrial hygiene concerns are escalated to the Director.

* Monitor and manage all environmental compliance items to ensure completeness, timeliness, and compliance at the site(s) as assigned. Make recommendations, in collaboration with the corporate Environmental Engineer, for final resolution to all non-conformities.

* Ensure all regulatory permits are current and accurately represent site (s) activities. Provide recommendations for resolution and collaborate with the appropriate corporate core team member for final disposition.

* Represent Carestream and their interests for assigned site inspections by regulatory or compliance agencies.

* Represent Carestream and their interests for some internal and external audits. Make recommendations to resolve audit deficiencies and collaborate with the appropriate corporate core team member for final disposition.

* Ensure currency on all Benchmark Gensuite obligations.

Required Skills & Education:

  • BS or BA in Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.


  • Min. five (5) years manufacturing EHS experience or five (5) years of environmental EHS, chemical manufacturing, or a lab environment experience.


  • Required Background and Capabilities:

    • Strong working knowledge of local jurisdictional EHS regulations, and their applicability to pertinent Carestream operated facilities.
    • Working knowledge of ISO 14001 management systems.
    • EHS technical experiences and capabilities, aligned with site risk profile.
    • Able to manage competing EHS priorities and perform under pressure, bias for action.
    • Collaborative
    • Understanding of compliance standards (eg. 29 CFR 1910)
    • Competency in technical writing.
