Summary of Position

We're looking for a Site Junior Estimator to join our team and contribute to the success of our construction projects out of our North East, MD office. In this role, you will work with the Site Estimator and Site Senior Estimator to evaluate project plans, conduct site visits, analyze data, and prepare detailed cost estimates. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, keen attention to detail, and a basic understanding of construction processes and materials. Typical Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  • Review project plans, specifications, and site conditions to develop a comprehensive understanding of project requirements.
  • Perform quantity takeoff from PDF and CAD drawings.
  • Conduct on-site visits to assess existing conditions, identify potential challenges, and explore opportunities.
  • Assist Site Estimator to prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and other project-related expenses.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions to enhance project profitability.
  • Work closely with team members to ensure cost estimates align with project goals and client expectations.
  • Develop competitive bid proposals and actively participate in bid review processes.
  • Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing information and build strong industry relationships.
  • Monitor project costs throughout the construction process, comparing actual costs to estimates and making necessary adjustments.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, materials, and construction methods to continuously improve estimating accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Experience in civil construction estimating preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills with an attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
