Park Nicollet is looking to hire a Behavioralist to join our Family Practice Residency team! Come join us as a Partner for Good and help us make an impact on the care and experience that our patients and their families receive every day.

Position Summary:

Functions as the Behavioral Science Faculty in the Family Practice Residency program in accordance with the requirements of the RRC of the ACGME and the guidelines of the AAFP's Core Curriculum for Behavioral Science. Provides direct social work services to patients and families at Methodist Hospital and HSM Clinics to aide them with biopsychosocial and mental health problems. Makes available a full range of treatment modalities with individuals, families, and groups, based on social work assessment and diagnosis. Performs other related duties as assigned.

A Behavioralist is a cornerstone to Family Medicine Physician education. Family doctors are tasked with incorporating behavioral health into all aspects of patient care, and their training should include experience in integrated interprofessional behavioral health care in the residency training. Having an experienced non-physician mental health professional on our faculty enables us to provide interprofessional training in cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing to better engage in the diagnosis and management of patient concerns.

Having a skilled non-physician mental health professional as part of our faculty cohort allows for the direct application of social work and/or behavioral skills to our patients in need as well as deepens our residency connections to the community. Behavioral medicine helps us understand the how our patients' health is affected by where they live, learn, work, and play. Understanding the social determinants of health is key to forging a pathway to better outcomes for our patients and communities. Dedicated faculty expertise to developing these skills is essential to the development of patient centered family doctors.
