Job Summary:

The Asphalt Laborer plays a vital role in supporting asphalt paving operations by performing a variety of tasks, including operating equipment, assisting with paving activities, and ensuring job site cleanliness. This position requires physical endurance, adaptability, and a willingness to learn multiple aspects of asphalt paving and construction. The ideal candidate will have experience in asphalt paving or general construction, but training is available for motivated individuals.



Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

    Assist in operating paving and compaction equipment as needed.
  • Perform various labor tasks, including shoveling, raking, and tamping asphalt.
  • Set up and maintain traffic control and safety barriers on job sites.
  • Assist in unloading, loading, and transporting materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensure a clean and organized job site by removing debris and excess materials.
  • Work closely with crew members to ensure smooth paving operations.
  • Maintain and inspect tools and equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist in spreading, leveling, and compacting asphalt to meet project specifications.
  • Learn and operate pavers, rollers, skid steers, and other asphalt-related equipment as required.
  • Support the crew in ensuring quality control and timely project completion.

Hourly Range is $23/hour-$32.50/hour



Qualifications (Experience, Education & Certifications, Key Attributes):

  • Previous experience in asphalt paving, construction, or general labor preferred but not required.
  • Ability to operate or willingness to learn how to operate asphalt paving equipment.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Understanding of safety regulations and willingness to follow safety guidelines.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand, kneel, and walk for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Valid driver's license preferred; CDL is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in asphalt paving and working with pavers, rollers, and skid steers.
  • Knowledge of grading, compaction, and other road construction techniques.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
