Description
Auria is looking to hire a Chief Engineer to support the Protected Tactical Enterprise System (PTES) program in Colorado Springs, CO. The Chief Engineer is responsible for leading and overseeing the end-to-end development and enhancement of the system by driving the system design, integration, and deployment. This role requires a deep understanding of stakeholder needs, conducting system design, performing integration and test tasks, developing and updating documentation, and managing risk. This role requires excellent technical, communication, and collaboration skills, as this individual works closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and shape the design of assigned systems. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Requirements and Design - Lead the design, development, and integration of assigned systems, using a strong understanding of stakeholder needs and requirements to ensure reliability, scalability, and maintainability. Support the development of system architecture diagrams, data flow diagrams, and detailed design specifications.
- Integration and Testing - Oversee the execution of system testing strategies, including unit, integration, and performance tests to validate that the system functions as intended and meets specifications. Troubleshoot and resolve system issues to ensure maximum operational efficiency.
- Documentation and Communication - Produce essential system documentation and effectively communicate complex technical details to various stakeholders, ensuring clarity and understanding.
- Risk and Performance Management - Identify potential system risks, devise mitigation strategies, and monitor system performance metrics, making adjustments as needed.
- Mentorship - Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and team members, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
- Collaboration and Continuous Improvement - Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, stay updated with industry trends, and incorporate feedback for ongoing system refinement. Liaise with stakeholders, including customers and end-users, to gather feedback and ensure the system meets operational requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current U.S. Government SECRET with the ability to obtain a TOP SECRET SCI eligibility security clearance (requires U.S. Citizenship).
- Corporate Engineer (Level 6): Typically, a Bachelor's degree and 20 or more years of experience or a Master's with 17 or more years of experience
- Proven experience in leading the design and deployment of large-scale, complex space systems using strong knowledge of software development life cycles, system architecture, and design principles.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with a capacity to predict, identify, and solve issues efficiently with minimal oversight from program management.
- Ability to support the development of clear and comprehensive system documentation, including design descriptions, requirements specifications, and other engineering documents.
- Knowledge of DOD space communication systems and subsystems, including systems, products, and interfaces across ground and space components.
- Experience leading a team responsible for designing, developing, and deploying cloud-based environments and network infrastructure
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including the use of industry-standard MBSE tools and methodologies to develop and document complex system architectures and requirements.
- Familiarity with other engineering disciplines (systems, hardware, test, configuration management, and quality engineering) and how they interact with software engineering.
- Excellent verbal, written, communication, and interpersonal skills that provide the capability to work independently and within a team.
- Proficiency with M.S. Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience leading system development and validation testing for programs with limited requirements and direction from program management.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to rapidly changing technologies and methodologies in space and communication systems.
- Holds MBSE certification, which may include SysML Object Management Group (OMG), Model Builder Fundamental (MBF), Model Builder Intermediate (MBI), or Model Builder Advance (MBA) Certification.
- Experience performing other engineering disciplines (systems, hardware, test, configuration management, and quality engineering) and interacting with software engineering in that role.
- Experience with modern IT infrastructure capabilities, including virtualization, cloud deployment, and containerization.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum team using tools to assist system development, such as Jira and Confluence.
