City/State Norfolk, VAWork Shift RotatingOverview: Sentara is hiring a Cardiovascular Anesthesia Technologist at Norfolk General Heart Hospital, in Norfolk Virginia. Overview The Cardiovascular Surgical Support Technologist Performs laboratory and Point of Care patient sample testing; documents and reports test results; maintains quality controls of all lab equipment, instruments, and tools. Performs various clinical pathological tests, such as blood gas analysis, electrolytes, blood clotting times, lactates, PT/INR. Performs
Thromboelastographic, TEG, laboratory testing, Platelet Map Testing and instrument validation. Responsible for the establishment of non-invasive monitoring equipment. Monitors patient's electrocardiogram, EKG, oxygen saturation (SPO2) and invasive hemodynamic pressures during cardiac surgical, electrophysiology, EP, and Catheterization lab procedures. Assists Anesthesiologist with airway management and arterial and central catheter placement. Assists with insertion and performance of intra-aortic balloon pump therapy, able to expertly troubleshoot across all hospital units. Responsible for the collection and processing of intraoperative autologous blood. Performs basic troubleshooting, maintenance and quality controls on laboratory equipment specific to the department. Provides didactic and clerical training to employees and Cardiovascular Technology students. Utilizes the Gravitational platelet system.
College degree in a science related field or graduate of an accredited cardiovascular technology program required. Education
