About the Role

Talgo, Inc. is seeking a Shop Manager - Mechanical to oversee and coordinate mechanical manufacturing operations. This role involves leading the mechanical management team, ensuring safety and quality standards, and driving operational efficiency in the refurbishment of train sets.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support mechanical management teams (Supervisors & Team Leaders).
  • Ensure compliance with FRA, OSHA, AAR, and company safety regulations.
  • Develop daily production planning to meet project goals.
  • Initiate improvements in production, safety, and employee morale.
  • Monitor and manage parts, supplies, and tooling availability.
  • Function as a technical expert on mechanical systems of train sets.
  • Assist in the training and development of technicians and oversee mechanical training programs.
  • Oversee hiring, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Interpret and implement engineering drawings and technical documents.


Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of managerial experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, or troubleshooting mechanical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical tools, equipment, and measurement/data analysis tools.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word); SAP experience is a plus.
  • Bilingual Spanish skills are a plus.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Exposure to mechanical parts, electrical systems, and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Work schedule includes occasional weekends and emergency travel.
