Mechanical Engineering Intern

Rapiscan, an OSI Systems Company is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Summer Intern, based out of Billerica, MA.

Rapiscan is seeking an innovative and creative mechanical engineering candidate who possess the passion to make a difference. During the internship, the candidate will work in support of existing product development and/or product support related projects under the direction of a peer mentor within the ME group.

• The position will involve component research, design, material selection, detailed documentation relating but not limited to electronic packaging, structural design, HVAC specification, and vehicle modification/integration.

• It is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem
• Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.

• Must be enrolled in an accredited Bachelor or Master of Science degree program in Mechanical engineering.
• Must reside within daily commuting distance of the site throughout internship.
• Must be able to commit to a 10-week internship period starting in May or June 2025.
• Must have experience using SolidWorks or other CAD software.
• Completed course work in relevant subjects like Machine Design, Statics, Dynamics, Optics, Thermodynamics, Fluid Dynamics preferred.
• Ability to work with limited supervision.
• Knowledge of engineering principles, both theoretical and practical.
• Strong problem solving skills.
• Strong proactive communication skills both written and verbal.
• Microsoft Word, Excel and Project.
