Description

Through leadership by example, provide instruction, administer authentic assessments, and foster an active learning environment that is focused on student foundational competence, success, retention, and completion.

*** Please note: This faculty position will instruct courses in both the dental hygiene and dental assisting programs.


Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

  1. Develop and maintain course curriculum. Align curriculum to departmental, state, and/or other applicable standards and outcomes.
  2. Plan, deliver and facilitate student learning, including providing ongoing quality feedback to students.
  3. Assess student attainment of learning outcomes and critical life skills (both formative and summative), at the course, program, and college level.
  4. Collect, report, analyze, and use data to support continuous improvement at the course, program and college level.
  5. Use technology to facilitate student learning, college processes, and personal productivity.
  6. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Participate as a productive member of a team.
  8. Maintain college learning resources and equipment.
  9. Participate in recruitment and retention activities.
  10. Pursue ongoing professional development, maintain occupational competency, and ensure knowledge of current laws and regulations related to the profession(s) in which instruction is provided.

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of programmatic discipline, curriculum development, effective teaching/learning principles, and evaluation
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills - oral, written, active listening, and non-verbal cues
  • Strong customer service skills which includes working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to manage time, organize work and meet deadlines
  • Ability to effectively integrate technology into instructional delivery and assessment
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal (staff, management, personnel) and external contacts (employers, clients, and vendors)
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to work and/or the improvement of processes and/or systems
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and/or with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing priorities
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with computer software applications such as word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation programs.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with video-conferencing and technologies associated with adult-centric teaching and learning, as well as within specific programmatic disciplines, which may include web technologies, operating systems, online program tracking platforms, social media platforms, mobile technology tools, and/or AV/multimedia applications and equipment.
  • Intermediate PC skills to include Taleval, Dentrix, Cliniview.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene or related.
  • Attain and maintain a WTCS teaching certificate.
  • Registered Dental Hygiene license.
  • Certification in nitrous oxide, lasers, CPR, and local anesthesia. Must obtain these certifications within one year of hire.
  • Three years clinical experience as a practicing Registered Dental Hygienist.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Three years clinical experience as a practicing Dental Assistant.


Supplemental Information

The Instructor - Dental Hygiene position supports the School of Health and is available to start by July 1, 2025.

This is a full-time instructor position on a flexible year-round calendar. Teaching assignments include variable hours, including days, evenings, and/or weekends.

Finalists will be invited to interview and do a teaching demo on Wednesday, April 23rd or Thursday, April 24th.

Second interviews will be held the week of May 10th.
