The Forest Products Development Center in the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment at Auburn University is seeking a qualified individual for a position as a postdoctoral Fellow in the field of wood composites to work on using soy flour as an adhesive substitute for forest products adhesives. The primary task of this position is to help develop commercialized applications with soy and/or other technologies as funding allows.
The major tasks include working in the laboratory to collect data, mentoring graduate students, developing new research ideas, and publishing high-impact research articles. This 6-month, limited-term, non-tenure track position is significantly funded by external sources. The maximum amount of time one may serve as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Auburn University is four years. The candidate will have opportunities working on projects with industrial stakeholders interested in commercializing our patented technologies.
The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the term of employment.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Ph.D. or equivalent degree in wood science, forest products at the time employment begins.
- The successful applicant will demonstrate commitment to the timely completion of deliverables, commitment to the publication of results in peer-reviewed journals (as lead and/or as team), and
- Track record of publications in wood composites.
- Experience in grant writing.

Desired Qualifications |
- Experience working with soy flour for substitution into wood adhesives.
- Experience working in the forest products / wood composites industry (before or after PhD).
- Experience mentoring students in the laboratory.
- Demonstrated commercial experience such as product development, patents, commercialization, or manufacturing.
